I generally don't post images of how I do things, because I am often very clumsy and catastrophically chaotic. One of the blessings of having going through a laptop shuffle is that, you encounter things that you are not supposed to encounter. Here are some images from the preparation of mural for 'A Handful of Truths in a Mouthful of Lies' curated by @ovulodrmsgl And generously supported by @kuenstlerhof_frohnau And warmly hosted by @kuenstlerischeforschungberlin The images are from my friend and collaborator @minaa_mohseni Ps: Trust me I was working and not pretending to work for the photographs 🤣

For years, I have followed the careful work of journalist Amtus Stanislaus Kuyili, who has been documenting the lives of those whose bodies have begun to grow plants—lives marked by raids, unlawful detention, and the constant shadow of police violence. One of them is Tarulata Ghosh, a trade unionist from West Bengal. She was taken in what officials called a hygiene raid. Witnesses recall batons, shields, and the shouts of officers as people were forced to the ground. Tarulata was dragged away without charge. Soon after, flowers began to grow from her skin. Her sense of time faltered, memory faded. Isolation followed, then confinement in a state-run facility that called itself medical but felt more like a prison. What happened to her is not isolated. Across the world, this community lives under siege—a waged war of forced labour, closed borders, and the deliberate dismantling of their solidarity networks. They are named dangerous simply for existing. For the past year, I have gathered fragments: paintings, sculptures, testimonies, and the reconstructed footage of Tarulata’s violent interrogation. Together, this archive stands as cultural evidence—records that may outlast the lies told about them. Soon, these fragments will reach Germany in the form of ' A Handful of Truths in the Mouth full of Lies.' Perhaps we will have the courage to look at it together. These pictures were taken by my dear friend @maksud.mondal10 during my residency period at @kuenstlerhof_frohnau in Berlin.

In the recent years, I have had very personal conversations with the closest people I have in my life about being parent and the loss and grief that one experiences regarding it. I have always circled back to this question, how do we deal with the loss of a child as parent? Are we allowed to be in pain ? Mourning father, from the series, ' A Boka's Dandelions in the plastic jug' (imagined as a sculpture and a play) water colour, graphite, pencil colour and gouache on 50cm * 65cm acid free paper 2025
