The India Trek 2026 group began the first evening in Mumbai with a tour of the historic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel; one of India’s most iconic hotels, known for its heritage architecture and significance in Mumbai’s hospitality legacy. We then visited the Gateway of India, a landmark built in 1924 to commemorate the visit of King George V, and today a symbol of the city’s colonial history and waterfront identity. @tajhotels @incredibleindia @tourismgoi @hellomtdc @maharashtratourismofficial @my_bmc @harvard @mit

The India Trek 2026 group spent an afternoon in Old Delhi, beginning with lunch at Haveli Dharampura — the beautifully restored 19th-century haveli that reflects the grace of Mughal-era living. After lunch, we set out on rickshaws through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk. Weaving past spice markets fragrant with masalas, colourful wedding bazaars, old jewellery shops, and street vendors, the experience offered an authentic glimpse into the rhythm of Purani Dilli; where history, commerce, faith, and everyday life continue to coexist seamlessly. @havelidharampura @incredibleindia @delhitourism_official @tourismgoi @harvard @mit

Walking through the memorial complex, the group learned about the history and symbolism behind the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the Param Yodha Sthal, and the names inscribed in honour of soldiers who laid down their lives in various wars and operations. In Pahalgam, The India Trek 2026 group visited the Himalayan Products factory to understand how artisanal cheese is produced in Kashmir. The visit began with a tasting of the local cheeses and a discussion on farmer networks and building a sustainable dairy ecosystem in the region. The group walked through the production process - from milk sourcing (including from migrating Gujjar and Bakarwal herders) to ageing and classification into Young, Mild, Medium, Mature, and Vintage categories. They also saw the cheese ageing cave and learned how Kalari, Kashmir’s traditional heritage cheese, is developed and positioned in the market. @himalayancheese @jktourismofficial @incredibleindia @harvard @mit

During our time in Srinagar, The India Trek 2026 group visited the exquisite showroom of Ali Shah Crafts - a heritage house of Kashmiri handicrafts, shawls, and carpets since 1860. We were taken behind the scenes to understand the intricate artistry and generations-old craftsmanship that go into creating authentic Kashmiri carpets. From hand-spinning and natural dyeing to the painstaking knotting of carpets, every step reflected precision and legacy. @alishahcrafts @dohhkmr @dc_handicrafts @jktourismofficial @incredibleindia @harvard @mit
