We love all bogs but especially our local bog.
The great bog of Ardee.
Our floodplains need protection, it's plain to be seen now.
Peatlands are so precious.

Beautiful drone shots at Corstown bridge captured by @ardeesnapper over the weekend highlighting the effects of rain on the former turf cutting site. My own shots today were less impressive, taken in the pouring rain! 💚💜🩷🩵 @ardeebog
Friends of Ardee Bog are pure thrilled to be presenting the first five publications from our Deep Map Project at the @droghedazinefair today.
This project has been very generously supported by @createcollaborativearts
If you're in Drogheda stall on by and say hello!
Hon the bog!
New Years Day on Stormanstown Bog
A few images from a walk around the bog when we basked in the setting sun of the first day of the new year.

Mushroom season is almost over as can be seen from these photos by @ardeesnapper .
In fact there is very little left of the beautiful Fly Agaric that sprouted this year

Friends of Ardee Bog had a deadly time at the @bogbothy with @12thfield and the @irisharchitecturefoundation this weekend. Well-done to ye all for putting on such a fantastic event!
Thank you for hosting our novel ecosystems/deep mapping workshop on Saturday afternoon and for giving the Ardee Bog Mummers the chance to perform their play, The Turfman, the Devil and The Ditch Hag, at the evening at the bothy on Saturday. Well done to all the champions who took part in the Welly Toss Competition and to Luke who took the prize home.
Credz to @flashmcfadden and @meadowsweet_rachelmurphy for the costumery,
Fiona Nulty for facilitating the workshop with @localhaginyourarea@dwdeanblack for being a champ and joining the mummers for the show
@jamesondavid and @evey_dey for the Bothy!
Thanks also to @abogslife for a couple of the photos above which we've shamelessly appropriated
Also finally thanks to @createcollaborativearts and @artscouncilireland for supporting Friends of Ardee Bog and the Ardee BoG Mummers. Our little folk theatre outfit is one of the outcomes of our deep mapping project which is supported by a create project award. It's lovely to get a chance to share this work with the bog community 💚
Hon the Bog!
Well well well what in the name of BOG is this?!
Friends of Ardee Bog are absolutely quaking (like a healthy accumulation of sphagnum) to be part of the Girley Bog leg of the @irisharchitecturefoundation@bogbothy tour happening on the 16th and 17th of August.
On Saturday at 13:30 FAB members Fiona Nulty and Helen Flanagan @localhaginyourarea will host a workshop inviting participants to collectively consider how spatial and artistic practices can help us better understand and engage with the past, present, and future of peatlands and, the diversity of life that call these landscapes home.
Later that evening we’re going to host An Evening at the Bothy and celebrate some of the more madcap aspects of life on the bog. For anyone that missed it last year - this is a ONCE IN A BLUE MOON opportunity to catch our play “The Turfman, the Devil and the Ditch Hag,” take part in games inspired by Coole Sports Day, and undertake a fairy planning permission site inspection. We hope the IAF checked for fairy roads before putting up the Bothy so they don’t have to apply to the Other Crowd for retention..
The weekend is jam packed with other workshops and events including Kate Flood @abogslife Elena Aitova, Luke Casserly, Timothy Sullivan and tours of the Bothy with Evelyn and David from @12thfield
Tix are 5e and booking is ESSENTIAL

See you on the Bog
