Bar San Francisco is situated on Zeedijk 40, built in the 13th century and a protected monument of over 500 years old. Super cool, but also a challenge soundwise.
That’s why everything at the bar is well insulated: a box-in-box construction with a meter-thick ceiling. In addition, the placement and quality of the speakers have been carefully considered so that the sound is optimal in every corner of the space.
Besides the large Kantarion stacks next to the booth, Arda Audio installed 4 smaller speakers, 2 monitor speakers with 3D-printed horns inside the booth, ensuring every corner of the space is covered with an immersive surround sound.
Thanks to the collaboration of @kantarion.sound and @arda.audio the music comes to life perfectly in this historic setting, subtle yet distinct. Photos by @tutulmazayatacan
8” Coaxial builds for places with limited space.
Solid Douglas Fir stained with Grey and Black linseed oil.
Available in Oak and Ash too.

Periodic features might help to reduce resonances.
This just came out of the oven and I’m going to compare it with a horn that has the same geometry, just without the “ribs”
One of the features of 3D printing is that you don’t have to be afraid of complexity.

A one off 21” Cardio Bass Reflex / Passive Cardioid switchable.
Horn generated with Advanced Transition Horns by Marcel Batík
The driver on the horn is Celestion Axi-2050
FIR Crossover at 400Hz, phase compensated.
Phase is +/- 20 degrees from 100Hz to 20kHz
This speaker is HEAVILY inspired by @a.for.ara ‘s monster 3-way synergy horn and adapted to the needs and constraints of the place it’s made for.
It uses a 1.4” compression driver and 6x 5” woofers.
The first picture is a rendering from October 19 2024
The last picture is from April 1 2025
In between are many simulations, drawing and redrawing, prototyping and redesigning until it works.
The first idea was to have resistive ports on the side in order to extend the controlled directivity pattern of the horn.
This however sacrificed the low end output too much.
The end result is a wall mounted 2-way synergy horn with a bass reflex back chamber.

This hasn’t got much to do with speakers but I have been wanting to make Arda tees forever….
Here is a prototype marker poke in the making.
It takes about 10 hours to make one.
There are 50000 individual points that need to be poked.
I love making simple things complicated, so I had to make a shading and sorting system from scratch.
Now I’m in the hunt for the perfect textile marker.
Let me know if you have found it.
