The Arctic Encounter Summit held at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska April 15-17, 2026 was informative about all things Arctic. The visionary leadership of Rachel Kallander, Jackson Blackwell, Reed Davidson and their team organized an event that emphasize the importance of Arctic Alliances in a fragile time in history of the North.

There are now more eyes on the Arctic than ever before… and know that the work being done is truly making a difference.
We are so grateful for our senior senator @senlisamurkowski for her featured remarks at today’s luncheon, and for her continued insight, determination, and commitment to Alaska and the Arctic.
What does “Ice Free” mean when we talk about the Arctic? Our panel yesterday explored how we can slow the loss of sea ice, and what environmental, political, and technological challenges stand in the way. The best way to solve a problem is to understand it.
There’s still time to visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center Artisan market at Dena’ina center, open to the public! Come visit the market tomorrow from 9-5pm.
This market would not have been possible without the support of our sponsor @akheritagecenter who so thoughtfully and carefully managed this part of the summit for us. We are forever grateful for your friendship and support.
Congratulations on receiving the Friends of the Far North award today at the Summit — Ms. Sarah Cohen of the Government of Canada and President Pat Pitney of the University of Alaska; @uafairbanks@uasoutheast@ua.anchorage !
This award is presented annually by @arcticencounter & we’re proud to say that the roster of recipients is growing. More to come on all fronts soon!
(One more award will be issued Friday!)

Day two of Arctic Encounters was a great success! We heard from Governor Dunleavy, honored Sara Cohen and Pat Pitney with the Friends of the Far North award, and learned from our artic community in breakout sessions. The night ended with an incredible Inuit Night Reception presented by The Inuit Circumpolar Council, there was laughter, dancing, raffle prizes, and most importantly... muktuk! More photos to come, and another jam packed schedule tomorrow.
The Northern Vision Fellowship Program gives early career professionals a seat at the table. This program gives these youth leaders unparalleled networking, mentorship, and meetings with key figures shaping the future of the Arctic.
At day 1 of Arctic Encounter Summit 2026, our fellows met with Mr. George Noll, a Senior Arctic Official at the U.S. Department of State. The conversation centered around threats in the Arctic, the challenges of navigating polarization as a civil servant, and how to implment big picuture solutions at a community level.
