Hiking up lines is never as fast as it at times can feel. Even when the snow is ”safe,” you’re still vulnerable to many things such as ice chunks falling or fatigue that can lead to a lapse in judgment. My biggest takeaway? Timing is everything. In the spring, the sun wakes up the cornices, ice and rocks above you. Get there too late on a partly cloudy day and you can get stuck, forced to downclimb a face you were meant to ride. The real trick is not getting there too early, either. You don’t want to kill the momentum you’ve built up. The goal is that perfect timing where the tour, the climb, and the descent all feel like one continuous move. That’s the best part of human-powered freeriding: Being fully connected to the mountains through all these different movements. When it all clicks, it’s incredibly rewarding. And even if you have to turn around? You’ve still got plenty of riding to do since you put in all that work to climb. That’s cool too! 🎞️ @mpkarlin #arcticlines #yeti #suunto #haglöfs #deuter

High camp adventuring this weekend! One of the best decisions I have ever made for my riding was to focus on learning how to navigate different type of snow conditions. Whether moving slowly, finding a rhythm, or committing to a full charge, the goal is to ride mindfully. Maintaining total control over my own capabilities is essential, especially when it comes to human-powered freeriding in high-consequence terrain. Being able to adapt your turn shape and style to whatever the mountain provides is not just about performance; it is about safety and precision. In this particular line, I utilized three different types of turns to descend within the limits of the skills I possessed just two days ago. Since this line, I have already learned couple important things about my own riding that I can adapt to future commitments in similar conditions. Biggest thanks to @picaherry @laurentbibollet and @jeremyjones for the inspiration and the brief mentorship I have experienced with you in the mountains. I put your advices into play and it was fun. A fun evening ride after waiting out the clouds. I love the long days this time of year up here in the Arctic; with enough patience and constant forecast-checking during low pressure, you can usually find a window big enough for some riding. Just like today, we almost turned around, but then a short window appeared, revealing the top of the line. We headed up to find great snow high up, though it was sluffing very fast. Thanks for the good company @kesseli87 and @blumstermeister #arcticlines #jonessnowboards #sparkrandd

Just wrapped shooting for the new @arctic_lines edit with @flatlight_creative in collaboration with @haglofs When I first got into freeriding, there wasn’t really a clear path. Most of what I learned came from the pioneers of Finnish freeriding. A lot of that knowledge wasn’t written anywhere… it lived in how they moved, how they chose their lines, how they understood the mountains. Somewhere along the way, things started to change. The scene grew. The knowledge became easier to access. And now in Finland, younger riders can actually learn freeriding and snow safety from the start, which still feels kind of unreal! This project came from that shift. Spending time in the northern mountains with freeskier @joonaalaverronen and photographer @sannnakielinen , sharing lines and ideas… it reminded me how important it is to pass things forward. Not just the riding, but the way we look at the mountains and move through them. Film from the trip dropping later this year! Major thanks to @haglofs for believing in this project and @jaakkoposti / @flatlight_creative for capturing the moments! All photos by @sannnakielinen #arcticlines #haglöfs

Been a fun week filming new @arctic_lines projects up here in Northern Norway. End of March turned out way better than most forecasts were saying. A bit low tide down low for this time of year, but higher up it’s still full winter. This peak-bagging moment was captured by @christeradahl while we were on an assignment together for @deuter 🏔️ #arcticlines #deuter #takingcomforttoextremes

Freekend Camp in Pyhä! Good times with a solid crew, all curious to learn more about human-powered freeriding. Extremely warm weather brought spring to the fjells a month too early, but we still managed to safely explore around the ski area and the national park. Felt like a good reminder again; instead of locking into one plan or a certain type of snow, it’s way better to stay flexible, move with the conditions, and keep the main goal simple: have fun and stay safe with a good crew. Big thanks: To all of you participants who joined and kept spirits high! To @alppilegenda land @miikkahast for supportive guiding @pyhaskiresort and @haglofs for making @pyhafreekend such a fun times! #pyhaskiresort #freekend #haglöfs #arcticlines 📷 @skisasse

@arctic_lines — Pedal & Peak in collaboration with @helkamabicycles Now live on my YouTube channel! Pedal & Peak takes me deep into a remote mountain zone outside Narvik, an area I’d never explored before. With snowlines retreating and spring stretching longer than usual, I adapted by pedaling an e-bike far into the backcountry. What followed became one long, unhurried day. A quiet reminder that staying flexible in decision-making can open entirely new possibilities. A day for reflecting on a changing season, shifting terrain, and the rare gift of riding beneath the midnight sun. This edit marks the season 5 finale of Arctic Lines. I hope you enjoy it!
