oh, but all of my favourite songs seem to end in a minor key
— silver gelatin handprints, various vintage papers & glassine sheets from a French 1940s photo album
[archive, pt. 1]
correspondence club 📬 last month, I made a little book of darkroom test strips for @mail_f_art@thomas.vandenberghe – I’m always fond of the imperfections in these discarded prints & I liked the idea of giving them a home between two covers
[with a linen hardcover, contact print inlay, four-point stab binding, waxed thread & cyanotype end sheets. postage box with hand-applied silver gelatin & I used my grandma’s pin cushion (which she made from an old sardine tin) to sew it all together]
What does it mean to translate memory into material?
A closer look at Elise Wouters' @archivesoflonging
A practice situated between London, Brussels, and Athens—shaped by movement, atmosphere, and the subtle imprints of time.
Working with analogue processes, Wouters foregrounds the materiality of the photographic image. Grain, surface, and texture become integral to the work’s visual language, unfolding in compositions that resist fixation and invite a slower, more attentive gaze.
A refined tension emerges between presence and absence, precision and ambiguity—opening a space for contemplation beyond the immediately visible.
Which element draws you in first—the image or its texture?
✨ A dialogue between image and material
✨ A nuanced exploration of place, perception, and temporality

I feel in flux, on the cusp of change, and so I’ve been reading about these transformative states between two worlds — about water and sleep, bodies and beds, empty spaces and Derrida’s theories on touching/not-touching.
some diary entries from days dreaming in the darkroom, hands immersed in water, coaxing silver onto page after page.

I had such a beautiful time at @art_karlsruhe exhibiting new silver gelatin works on paper. thank you to the best @galeriemartinkudlek for supporting and believing in the work, and to the new collectors I met all week 💌
sweetest valentines 💌 these silver gelatin prints of my grandparents started my love affair with photography & I think of them so often. they didn’t have a penny to their names when they got married, but there is such beauty & love in every frame
