Some thoughts on my birthday yesterday. I think it’s true what they say about your 30s hitting different. You just start looking at life differently. For years I’ve lived in a constant state of hustle. From the grind of building my business, to moving, to always trying to do the next thing, prove my worth, constantly on the move, or shit even feeling the need to post on social media constantly. And while it was fun, it was also exhausting. I just don’t feel the need for that fast paced life anymore. For a while now I have actively been trying to be more intentional about, well, pretty much everything. From the foods we consume, to where we choose to give our energy, how we move our bodies, to how I want my next 10 years of business to look like, to really wanting to enjoy my family and give them back time that I previously would spend elsewhere. That intentionality to live slower, more in tune with what our family actually needs, to reconnect where we feel welcomed. I think for a long time I’ve tried to insert myself in places or groups that ultimately may not be for me, no matter how much I wished they were. And listen, that human desire to want to fit in is a bitch. But I’m learning. Learning to be content in the uncomfortable. Learning to know my worth and what I deserve. To go where I’m wanted and not force a situation or devalue myself to make something work. And maybe it’s okay to not be okay sometimes. Yesterday was one of the more emotional birthdays for me, I wont lie. I felt every range of emotion and then some. But the one thing that remained constant throughout the day was my husband and my kids. They poured love on to me in so many ways and showed up for me. So when we sat around our dining room table at the end of the day, in the house we have worked so hard for, and I had those 3 voices singing to me, I realized I’m where I’m supposed to be. And allowing life, friendships, jobs, and all the rest to fall into place as they may, is okay too, even when it doesn’t feel okay at times. Not every year is this magical milestone. Some years are more introspective. So here’s to 32, the slower, more intentional, conscientious year and all that it brings.
