New upcoming afternoon workshop at @arc.hive.arc ! Do you enjoy scientific diagrams? Ever wish you could cut out your favourites and make art with them? This workshop is created so you can indulge your desire to gaze at these images… even giving you permission to take scissors to paper! Together, we will be “dissecting” a beautiful, 1960’s copy of ‘Invertebrate Zoology’ and using the informational figures to create extravagant collages. During the second portion of the workshop I will guide you through the process of creating a coloured ink drawing that is inspired by your collage. The resulting artworks will be something you never could have imagined! Themes being covered will include, design and layout, how to blend representation with abstraction, generating creative ideas and using science as inspiration. I will also go over some tips and tricks for art-marking, collage and drawing. If you need an afternoon to recharge, relax and indulge that inner craving to cut into a beautiful hardcover book… this workshop is for you!
