This Saturday we’re happy to have ar.strae back with us at Wibar. 🫂
A familiar presence in our orbit, he has been shaping the visual language of our listening room over the past editions. This time his work moves downstairs, translating sound into shifting imagery across the clubnight.
The practice of ar.strae is rooted in getting lost in process. Under his name, meaning “astray”, he embraces uncertainty as method, allowing visuals to unfold rather than be defined. His raw natural and digital textures dissolve into abstract worlds that evolve in real time.

Auris Listening × Oberhaum.
These are always one of my favorite gigs because it’s a real challenge: creating live visuals for hours, entirely in the moment, with no pre-made scenes. Just improvisation, listening, and responding.
ar.strae (Gaelic for “astray”) is basically my approach here: letting myself wander without a destination and staying honest to what’s happening in the room.
All of this came from the sound. Thank you to the artists for creating the space I could wander through. Without them, there would be nothing to shape visually.

And of course massive thanks to @aurislistening and @oberhaum for having me and creating the space for this to happen.
Already looking forward to the next edition.

FOG_SYSTEM explores cognitive dissociation by simulating the neurological schism between face perception and face memory. In short, it describes the state of seeing facial features without accessing its identity. The experience is a very personal one, as it is derived from Calii’s experiences in club environments: the flashing strobe offers fragmented moments of pure perception, while the persistent fog acts as the cognitive barrier that prevents these glimpses from coalescing into a recognisable person. This process renders the figures within the space as haunting, anonymous abstractions whose individuality has been systematically severed. The installation achieves to capture this through displaying an artistic rendition of this phenomenon, paired with the conditions in the direct environment to actualise this state of being. Ultimately, the work forces the viewer to confront the fragile mechanics of their own perception, questioning what remains of the human essence when the vital link between seeing a face and truly knowing a person is broken.

ADE 2025 RECAP
My first ADE as an artist was truly an unforgettable experience. From endless prep and planning to the anxiety of wondering if everything would actually work, all topped off with terrible weather, it was a lot to take in. But looking back now, I’m proud I made it through and grateful for everyone who showed up, supported, checked in, and all the new people I got to meet.
After ADE I took some time for myself to reset, process everything and get my energy back. Now I feel ready for this next chapter, with more intention, more focus and more room to grow.
