âFor the majority of people like me, theyâre incarcerated, theyâre unhoused... Mine is a small story, but thatâs not the reality for most kids in custody.â
May is National Foster Care Month, and our very own Jessie Wiser is sharing her story.

âI tell my nursing students, âyouâve got to love people to be a good nurse.â If you love people and work hard, we can help with the rest.â
Thatâs the standard set by Dr. Eve Rice and her team in the APSU School of Nursing.
Itâs also what has helped build a strong national reputation within the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD), where APSU has become a top choice for soldiers pursuing the Army Nurse Corps.
In 2024, 32 of 50 soldiers selected nationwide chose APSU.
