Delivering on our promise to ensure we are using our buildings for community good! Atlanta Public Schools hosted a press conference at the Student and Family Support Hub to share updates on APS Forward 2040 and plans for new community hubs across the district. 👏 Leaders including Superintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson, Board Chair Jessica Johnson, and Dr. Chelsea Montgomery outlined how these hubs will expand access to early childhood and adult education, food support, youth programs, and more in every high school feeder pattern. Special thank you to our partners and community for their continued support as this important work moves forward to better serve students and families across the district. #APSExcellence #AtlantaPublicSchools

APS has continued its intentional shift from incremental progress to rapid, focused growth to ensure every student is educated, empowered, and prepared to shape the future. The recent Accelerate APS Community Meetings were highly productive, with valuable insights shared around strengthening Literacy, College & Career Readiness, E-SPLOST initiatives, and Exceptional Education. Every conversation and piece of feedback has been helpful in guiding this important work forward. We encourage our community to join and continue sharing ideas that help accelerate student success across the district. #AccelerateAPS #APSExcellence #AtlantaPublicSchools

I had the opportunity to join the team at Benteen Elementary during their staff meeting, where they also received free classroom supplies support from the Empty Stocking Fund!  As always it was inspiring to hear meaningful conversations around social-emotional learning and building connections with students from all backgrounds. Meeting students where they are, helping them feel comfortable, offering encouragement and compliments, and making sure they feel seen and valued is what truly builds strong, connected school communities. Thank you to the Benteen Elementary team for the warm welcome and your candid conversations about how we continue to grow as a district! #APSExcellence #AtlantaPublicSchools

APS cannot succeed without a community of believers! Members of our faith community gathered all in one space, pouring into a vision that continues to move our district forward. Moments like this go far beyond conversation; they spark collaboration, strengthen relationships, and reinforce the collective responsibility we all share. This is how we build momentum. This is how we create impact. And most importantly, this is how we set a strong, intentional tone for our APS scholars and the future leaders they are becoming. #AtlantaPublicSchools

Strong schools start with strong educators. This week, I had the chance to spend time with the dedicated team at Hollis Innovation Academy during their data meeting. It was a great opportunity to listen, learn, and hear directly from the educators who pour into our students every day. Conversations like these matter; they help us stay connected to what’s happening inside our classrooms and ensure we continue supporting the people who make learning possible. Thank you to the Hollis Innovation Academy team for the warm welcome and the Empty Stocking Fund for your continued partnership! #APSExcellence #AtlantaPublicSchools

Leaders, educators, and community partners came together for the Atlanta Partners for Education Advisory Committee Meeting to focus on one of the most important goals in our district: strengthening early literacy. 📚✨The conversation highlighted Atlanta Public Schools’ Accelerated Literacy Model, a bold, research-based approach designed to improve reading outcomes for our youngest learners and build a stronger academic foundation for the future. From developing an elite literacy workforce to reimagining literacy instruction, speakers shared insights, strategies, and a call to action for advancing literacy across APS. Together, we’re working to ensure every student has the skills they need to read, learn, and thrive. 💙📖 #AtlantaPublicSchools

📚✨ In celebration of Read Across America Week, I had the pleasure of visiting a 5th-grade classroom at Burgess-Peterson Academy to share a special read-aloud with our amazing scholars. We read Be You, an inspiring picture book that celebrates individuality, self-expression, and the courage to be true to yourself. Its message of patience, persistence, and bravery reminded us all how important it is to embrace the qualities that make each of us unique. A special thank you to Mr. Ecker for welcoming me into his classroom. You can truly tell how much his students love him and his teaching. Keep up the amazing work inspiring and supporting our scholars every day! 💙📖 #ReadAcrossAmerica #AtlantaPublicSchools
