Throwback to the sunny afternoon where Amelia Haney of @perennialsausalito came to visit a few months ago and casually snapped a few film shots of the studio. I’m so grateful to be able to collaborate with other talented creatives. For all of the hard work and grit that is required to work as an artist/maker and put your work out there, it is so fulfilling to be able to connect with others of like-mind. The Shadow of the Moon coat was born out of this collaboration, made with cloth I hand-wove with undyed alpaca and virgin wool. During the studio visit, I was preparing the warp and all of the black yarn seen dedicated to this project. Images 1-3 by @perennialsausalito Image 4 by @ivyrose_carr

“Confluence” Handwoven double weave European linen and mulberry silk 29.5 x 41.5” (including 8” fringe) 2025 This work is about the tensions- the push/pull that can be observed in water or felt through weaving. It is about the gap between the things we can see and the things that we cannot- that which lays beneath or beyond our vision. I like to use geometric patterns in my work, laying out a visual rhythm that I imagine viewers can repeat out in their minds. #textileart #contemporarytextiles #fiberart #doubleweave

When Amelia Haney, the designer behind @perennialsausalito reached out to me about a custom fabric, her inspiration was of windows to the night sky. An artist after my own heart, we developed several weaves before this one was chosen to create this ‘In the Shadow of the Moon Coat’. Handwoven of undyed Peruvian alpaca and virgin wool in my Brooklyn studio- it is so gratifying to see this sumptuous fabric sewn into an heirloom worthy garment. Available via www.perennial.co and in the Perennial studio. Work in progress- a new handwoven wall hanging that was on the loom during my recent open studio event. I’m currently working on hand sewing all the pleats into place and dreaming up the next piece. Looking forward to also finalizing the custom hardware. #handweaving #handwoven #fiberart #textileart #contemporarytextiles #doubleweave #doubleweavepleats #appliedartsstudio

Named after one of my favorite painters, the Agnes fabric is a perfectly-imperfect grid texture. The ground weave is a fine linen of both natural and bleached colors, the warp accent is an American cotton/linen boucle yarn, and the weft accent is a robust Japanese paper which loops up the selvedge. This fabric is a multipurpose weight, suitable for light upholstery, or drapery where you can see the handwoven selvedge on the leading edge. Shown in Natural colorway. #handweaving #bespoketextiles #interiortextiles #contemporarycraft #contemporarytextiles #appliedartsstudio #linen #boucle #japanesepaper

My weaving practice is heavily influenced by the natural materials that I use. Materials have personalities—they like to behave some ways and not others. Finding how I can manipulate those innate characteristics in combination with certain weave structures is so exciting to me. The creative experimentation is something akin to recipe developing, changing one ingredient at a time until you find the ideal combination. The first image shows basketry reed and the samples that led to my piece “Ripple”. I’ve been digging deep into basketry research recently and look forward to where that path will take me. #handweaving #contemporarytextiles #contemporarycraft #basketry #appliedartsstudio #textileart #fiberart #textilesculpture

This is the true speed of weaving fabric by hand. It is a slow process, with the fabric being created thread by thread. #contemporarytextiles #textileart #handweaving #weaving #weavingprocess #bespokefabrics #interiortextiles #appliedartsstudio #craft

There is a rhythm that's found when weaving, a sort of dance created from synchronized movements of thousands of threads. Image by @idaelevine #contemporarytextiles #handweaving #doubleweave #weaving #textileart #fiberart #appliedartsstudio #weavingprocess

Loved being a part of the @pattersonflynn1943 Wabi Sabi Collection photoshoot, with my piece “Ripple”. The texture is perfectly complementary to the plaster walls, and the movement beautifully echos the diagonal rhythm in the kilim. This work is still available to collect, and if you are looking for custom work, I am open to commissions. My piece, Resonance, pictured in the Wǒ Men (Us) show held in March and April of this year. Curated by @emilylindberg.design and @workinuse , the show celebrated a community of artists and makers across materials and disciplines. I was honored to take part and meet so many other talented creatives.
