Digging myself out of the grave i dug myself to dig another, Jan 17. @flanafi will do his thing and then he and I will perform some songs off our collab LP “the knees start to go” for the very first time. Then, the good ship Ape School sails again, more accurately Ape Schüül Ii, some rowers the same some replaced. The Santo Casur opens, stark and noble. Might as well, while I still got all this hair and all these beans.

My third proper Ape School record “Hog Heaven” drops today on all streaming services with a video by the Mayo twins of @disasterartistband . Song also features @tone_whitfield The full length also features appearances by @daedelus @flanafi @jfno @che._____ @chee.k.y plus my dad and my kid. The cover is hand drawn by @formlesshorror and is mind melting. This record was an audio experiment that never resolved, but it produced 11 off kilter, warped ass “pop” songs that most directly reference my solo album Nonsense Goes Mudslide from 20 years ago. Others have said it reminds them of the self titled. It’s no band record is what I mean. If anyone can name all 600 direct references on this record, you win a free lifetime supply of threatening texts from ME. Play to win!

"Watching the World Burn" , a collaboration with @flanafi , hits streaming services today. It's the second salvo from the upcoming Hog Heaven full length, which hits digital on 6/29 with LPs soon to follow. Nutso single artwork by @jake_space_ This one is the last piece of the "Knees Start to Go" puzzle. While locked indoors in 2020/21, Simon and I were plugging away at our collab LP by exchanging files. Most came my way. A couple went his way. This is one of the latter. A monolithic slab of whiplash, soulless soul, bathed in every bubbling liquid I could collect. As the apex realization of my maximalist tendencies, there's an actual kitchen sink here. Take that for what you will. Simon lays the dirtiest bass to ever grace an Ape School song, and that is a real achievement. Dirt all over. Just filthy. Though our efforts as co-conspirators have undoubtedly seen their most fruitful bounties, the music we made during those dark days will always serve as a beacon of hope for me and remain more special than just about anything else i've done. Oh baby it’s a big @boiledrecords birthday! We are seven! As part of the festivities, we are announcing a new Ape School record today and dropping a single and video for “Positively Green”, a collaboration with dear old friend and co-conspirator @daedelus . The album is called Hog Heaven. It comes out June 22 on digital and vinyl will ship when it arrives. Order from the Boiled bandcamp in the bio link, or just hit me if nearby. (27 bucks canadian is $20 US) It can be seen most accurately as a sequel to 2003’s Nonsense Goes Mudslide, my first solo outing and the last time Pitchfork was nice to me. It features contributions from @flanafi @jfno of fetnat, @che._____ @tone_whitfield @chee.k.y as well as the obligatory family contributors. Good folks good shit. The album art was hand drawn by @formlesshorror , who joins me in the hall of pHiladelphia secret weapons. Her band is @destructosphl and you’ll have more of that before you know it. She did the art with shitty CVS pens and you should pay her handsomely. Video is by @midi_lizard and the source footage is from my grandfather’s super 8 footage. This is 1981 and the baby is my departed younger brother Bobby, to whom I dedicate this record along with other lost brothers Todd Mitchell and Jay Gensemer. Dickheads, all of em, but in the way that’s funny. I’ll have more to say in the coming weeks. I know nobody is clamoring for this, so I won’t bombard you. Ask yourself though: what do you clamor for? Do you still clamor? I’ll clamor for the lot of us.
