A truly incredible & amazing week - Cypher Tales Malmö featuring Jit Masters did 4 Jit workshops, 2 showcases, 2 paneltalks and Q&As, a Jit documentary movie screening, 1 Techno & Jit exhibit, a radio interview on @p3sverigesradio , Rundgång Friday hangout & one hell of a Nothing’s Like Detroit afterparty in just 7 DAYS!!!!!! Where to start………….. I had an incredible conversation with @djriff1200 last night about Rotator among a looooong list of other genius local Detroit DJs that had a major influence on Riffs own path of becoming the brilliant DJ and turnatablist he is today as well as on some of the other members of the legendary group @12techmob Riff and Swann of @12techmob both grew up witnessing Rotators mixing and scratching skills as he, as a mobile DJ in Detroit, would come play their middleschool dances back in 1985. Much more on that to come⭐️ Here, Rotator is seen mixing and switching on the laser lights attached to his hands while scratching over some incredibly fast jungle/drum n bass tunes which seemed to be what he almost exclusively was spinning at that point in time. I’m rebuilding the Techno & Jit record exhibit (TECHNO MUSIC DANCE) at Fagerstagatan in Malmö for those of you who didn’t catch it @blackarchivessweden during @jitmasters visit in Skåne last year. In addition to the selection of a few, within Jit culture, pivotal records I also added a copy of ”The Mental Machine” featuring poetry by the iconic Detroit radio personality, DJ and myth The Electrifying Mojo. This was generously gifted to me by my good friend @atmiller4life to become part of the Anxious Beat archive⭐️This part of the archive is now open to the public for a short period of time. In search of Rotator: The search continues. Had the pleasure of speaking to Patrick Pulsinger who generously shared some of his unique memories of Detroit’s own brilliant DJ and turntablist Rotator. Patrick takes us back around 1998 to the legendary Flex Club in Vienna during Ectomorph’s first tour in Europe which featured Rotator as their opening act. Photo (by Patrick Pulsinger) ft.
