I broke the world record.
47,460 mangrove trees planted in 24 hours.
This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, physically and mentally.
I planted every single tree myself, but I didn’t do this alone.
Behind me, there was a team.
People organizing everything so I could focus on planting.
People counting every tree and witnessing the whole day.
Holding cameras and lights through the night.
Feeding me, supporting me, making sure I stayed present.
Singing, dancing, cheering me on when it got hard.
I was the only one planting.
But this record exists because of everyone around me.
Special thank you to
@theordinary for making this possible by committing 100,000 mangrove trees to this project and helping fund this entire event. Our shared message is simple: environmental impact can be accessible to everyone. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It can start with just one tree at a time.
And this wasn’t just about speed.
Over the days leading up to this, I learned from mangrove experts and the local community how to do this the right way.
Planting the right species, at the right density, at the right time.
We even had to stop during the day when the tides came in and flooded the land. We respected the environment and worked with it, not against it.
All the trees were tracked throughout the record using the
@veritreeofficial app, and will continue to be tracked over the coming months and years.
The local community will take care of them, and we’ll be able to follow their progress over time. I’ll also be coming back next year to see how they’ve grown.
This is now a historic site, and the survival of these trees matters just as much as the record itself.
The last two weeks here in Mombasa have been life changing. Learning from the local community, building real connections, sharing moments I’ll never forget.
Huge thank you to the local community, the
@earthlungsofficial team, the
@kenyaforestservice , and everyone who came to support and witness this.
This was bigger than a world record.
This was about people, impact, and doing it the right way.
Grateful for all of it 🌱
