Drift, 2025. Acrylic on wood assembly, 80 x 120cm.
Drift embraces the unknown as a response to my present headspace. Life changes and a distance to my practice has allowed me to shift earlier concerns of agency and to let go of directing meaning through indicative imagery, containing autobiographical imagery in a way that I had not tried before. Drift contains my past, present and future.
'Fish', 2025.

"For the past 18 months I’ve been excited to use images that have no charged meanings or communicative agenda. Realising more and more that everyone brings their own meaning to an image, I have let go of directing a message.
These works still might say something about the wider world we live in even though much of the imagery comes from my personal life, which is something I haven’t usually done outside of a sketchbook. Coming back to the studio after an extended break allowed me some objectivity and I began my practice again as a different person. We wake up as different people every day." Bartok
