Good news!
I’ve followed Danielle Bukowski’s career for a while now. She has a phenomenal Substack that I can’t stop recommending to other writers. Most recently, I heard about Meg Charlton’s book Voyagers (debut, out June 16, pitched as Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow with aliens—genius, right?) and asked myself, “Who sold this book?” Of course, it was Danielle! Her taste is impeccable. Her sales are thrilling. She’s a consummate professional who stands up for ethical publishing practices.
And she’s my new agent.
I hope we can get this book into the hands of readers.
Pic 2 is a bit of fun for the ones who read this book, loved it, and helped me make it shine.
Pic 3 is my writing group who toasted my news. @haleycatherinewrites even made the first piece of merch for my fictional band!
Bookish day in SF with @mira.landry . Haven’t played tour guide in a while. Senor Sisig was the perfect place to explain “Hella Bay.” I love this city.
Happy Indie Bookstore Day! Here are a few of my favorites, near and far.
Thank you to the booksellers who create space and belonging, foster community, preserve history, and support readers and writers. The treasures I’ve found, and been given (I’ve had more than one book quietly slipped to me at a register), mean the world to me. And there’s nothing I love more than visiting a new city and exploring their local bookstores.
I’m heading to Palm Springs, Salt Lake City, and New York later this year—give me all your indie bookstore recs!
Life lately 📸 I learned my toxic trait is thinking LEGO missed a piece when it’s actually in front of my face. What I lack in LEGO build confidence, I make up for in splitting the G. Also, Tilt by @emmapattee is incredible and everyone should read it at once.
Recent reads.
Not pictured is Bruce Holsinger’s CULPABILITY (returned to the library), which I devoured in two days.
Other take aways: I need to read everything @chelseabieker has ever written. I will always root for a debut (@julietizon ). And I respect authors who step into a new genre (@ashleywinsteadbooks ) and deliver the goods.
Several long haul flights coming up. Ready for that overhead light life 🤓
