The art and activism panel I was on last month was published as an episode of the podcast SALVAGE. It was a great conversation about our mutual love of plastic waste and challenges of using it as an art material. With thanks to @artbynatalya , @cindypeaseroe , @beyondplastics , @mapspace . Google "Beyond Plastics Art and Activism Panel" to find it or send me a dm and I'll send you the link.

Business idea: capsule wardrobes matched to your pet, so that pet hair blends in and you don't have to use lint rollers whenever you go out.

Artists and activists collaborating together has historically been a powerful tool for creating cultural shifts. Today, there is a burgeoning enthusiasm among organizers to embrace the work of artists to help share compelling stories and shape social change in movements nationwide. This Earth Day, we invite you to ride this wave with us and shape the future of Beyond Plastics’ grassroots organizing movement to end plastic pollution. 🌊 Start by joining us at Art+Activism Event as part of the programming for Repurposer Collective Second Annual Exhibit. Thursday, April 23rd at 6:30pm at @MAPSpace in Port Chester NY. I will be leading the conversation with two of the most prolific artists using single-use plastic today @AnnePercoco and @CindyPeaseRoe Seating is limited, please RSVP to [email protected] ASAP Looking forward to seeing you soon! 🌏 🌎 🌍 #artbynatalya

📣OPEN STUDIO THIS EVENING📣 Hey local friends: @annepercoco and I recently collaborated on Rupture (Summer Pour 2), a papermaking project using knotweed and street trash and sidewalk cracks. We’re showing this work for the first time during Open Studios and Garden State Art Weekend in Hoboken on Saturday, April 18th, 6 to 9 pm. If you’re free, come hang out with us in my studio and see these wild pieces in person! I’ll have some of my own WIP out too, and snacks of course. Project Studios, Main Building 4th Floor, Studio E-41-E Neumann Leathers Building 333 Newark St., Hoboken, NJ To get to the studio: - Enter from the parking lot at 333 Newark St. - The door to the building is in the back left corner underneath a tiny sign that reads R. NEUMANN & CO. - After entering the double door, take a right and walk all the way to the end of the hall - Take the small elevator or climb the stairs to the 4th floor - There will be signage guiding you to the studio from there - If you get lost, call or text me

@theusemusic built a fart detector for our 6 year old. I noticed it resting on Nexus, a book about how humans transmit information.

I created #weathershieldforamigrantdwelling in 2009 while on residency at @sandarbh_residency . I collected food wrappers with inner foil lining (such as chip bags), washed them, and pieced them together into a large tarp with the mirror-like foil on one side and colorful graphics of the food wrappers on the other side. I offered the tarp to a migrant family to use as an outer layer for their makeshift dwelling. It was waterproof and the silver foil reflected the sun, keeping the living space cooler. People told me they saw the tarp in use for at least a year. Created with the support of @asianculturalcouncil . For this show (Consumed at @paulrobesongalleries ) I made a recreation of the dwelling using tree branches to build the frame and a new tarp made from American food wrappers.
