For three days, students from KASK Performance and ERG Performance/Installation will meet in Brussels to build a temporary framework for collaboration. The two groups have never met before. Within this short and concentrated time, they will share ideas, develop proposals, think through dramaturgy and content, and collectively address the technical and material conditions needed to bring things into form. This process also includes the everyday infrastructures of working together: cooking for one another, assembling and dismantling small set-ups, and supporting each other through the many visible and invisible tasks that make performance possible. 🌱🫕☕ On March 18, an open mic evening at Rile Bookshop will share what has taken shape through this brief and intensive process. 🎤 On y est pressure / Bijna daar / Almost there 📍 Rile Bookshop, Brussels 🗓 March 18 🕕 18:00 @rile.books @ergunlieuderecherche @kask_performance

Some very personal thoughts while preparing for the panel about performance: what if the future of performance in Flanders and Brussels reclaimed its political pulse? A field where artists, institutions, and publics renegotiate how we share, gather, speak, live and imagine together? Could we build an ecosystem that resists acceleration and consumption, where exchange becomes a form of agency? Join us for Performance in Flanders and Brussels, a conversation between Katleen Van Langendonck, Elen Braga, Joshua Serafin, Eliel Jones, and Alice Ciresola in dialogue with yours truly Anna Stoppa. 👀 STUK, Leuven 🕙 14 November, 10:00 - 12:30 In collaboration with @stukleuven during Playground Festival Register via @kunstenpunt Image: Elen Braga: Babaduà (c) Britt Ryckebosch

Very much look forward to the special Master Salon @kask_masterfinearts programme of Thursday 27 Feb where we will meet the initiatives NICC @artists_nicc and Gray Fruit @gray_fruit_ for an afternoon programme exploring artistic practice, self-organisation, and navigating opportunities available after art school as an artist. See you there for this afternoon of presentations, a short workshop and a round table discussion. 📍black box / kunsttoren 🕒 15:00 - 18:00 Gray Fruit: Gray Fruit is an artists’ agency and learning platform operating at the intersection of art institutions and artists’ studios. We offer holistic, personalized, and content-driven support that empowers artists and art workers to explore their creative ideas and build professional relationships tailored to their practice. Rather than working for artists, we work with them—encouraging experimentation and placing artistic freedom at the heart of everything we do. Our methods are rooted in active listening, empathy, and critical thinking, attuned to the nuances of the artistic process. NICC: NICC is an artist-run, non-profit vzw, creating space for interaction between visual artists, institutions and society. NICC operates with specific attention to the socio-economic position of visual artists, and does so within local, regional and international registers. The core activity of NICC is to promote and critique knowledge about the development of the artistic practice and the framework within which this takes place, and to feed the debate around it. NICC functions as the first contact and representative of visual artists and strives for a strong social framework that enables visual artists to develop their artistic practice professionally and autonomously. As a counter to monoculture, NICC chooses diversity as the central theme for its 5-year plan (2023-2027). In order to improve the well-being of the visual artist, NICC wants to be a platform where artists can meet and collaborate in their individuality and diversity on an equal footing. Very happy to share that during the classes of Theory and History of Performance we will prolong the collaboration of the performance department at KASK with Kunstenfestivaldesartes and ERG master installation-performance in Brussels. Super happy I got to meet a new group of students today during my 'Theory and History of Performance' class at @kask_performance @schoolofartsgent ! 🎉 We kicked things off with a warm-up, diving into contextualizing discourses, exploring documentation, and making connections through space and time. ✨ I can already tell it’s going to be an exciting journey ahead—more fun to come! ✨

Had a great time returning to KU Leuven and LUCA Brussel to talk about curating and share how @curatedbymoss approaches it as a collective! It’s always a mix of struggles, joys, challenges, and fun moments. We kicked things off with an icebreaker: a photo from playing *Art & My Career* by Olivia Hernaïz, which, in some ways, reflected our own experiences - both the ups and the downs. Looking forward to what’s ahead for us!

Feeling like little white animals from the caves, shaped by millennia of evolution and without eyes because they are surrounded by darkness. In short, those little things that don't know what the sun is. Here, that's how you feel in Belgium if you come from a country where there are always months of guaranteed sunshine and every now and then the sun shines even in winter. When you see the first rays coming up, you rush to a park or the first place that has trees with little birds and ask yourself: am I randomly happier today or is it just the sun brightening up my day? ❣️ 2024 was supposed to be the year of healing for me. Instead it was just a year of horrible things on a personal and collective level (saving a couple of little things and fantastic people I met and found again fortunately, thank you, you know who you are, old and new friends). 🥰 I wish everyone who is bearing other people pain would always have the chance and privilege to be able to feel uplifted like the first rays of sunshine after dark winters. Yeah, like an emergency sunshine button. 🌞🆘 Thank you to those who have been my emergency sunshine button, listening and helping, making time to meet even if your lives were very busy. Thank you for bearing with me. That kindness will all come back to you I promise! ❤️

Elmo & Gonzo are keeping me great company lately. @koen_de_gendt and me adopted them from someone who could no longer care for them and was considering either taking them to a shelter or having them put down. When I heard: two brothers, 12 years old and black ... I knew that chances to get them adopted were very slim even if we were offering to foster them. Elderly black cats often have more difficulties in finding a new home. But hey, we love them very dearly and we are so happy with them! They adapted to us and their new home immediately, I'm too lucky having them, they actually adopted us. Learning from them every day. They are mainly teaching me to take good naps but it's winter season here in Antwerp, right? ❄️🌧️💤 And yes it's Elmo & Gonzo from Sesame street and no we didn't change their name because they actually listen and follow you if you call them by their name. They seem to like my books too, nice uh? 📚

🍑🍪🌞💤 There are things that I sometimes bring with me from Venice and one is the feast of San Martino. In the pagan peasant tradition, the end of the hard work of harvesting, the tasting of the first wine and the beginning of winter rest. Also called St. Martin's Summer, the pagan cult was absorbed by the Christian one in the figure of a knight who broke his cloak in two to help a homeless man. This gesture of love is symbolized by splendid sunny days that warm the heart before winter comes (like today in Antwerp!) Sometimes all we need is some kindness, giving or receiving it's up to you. Or sometimes you just need to scream around calli banging a wooden spoon on a lid!
