It has been a pleasure to be in an art residency, from the 6th to the 16th of September, in Castelnuovo di Farfa (RI). The residency, organized by @rete_via_di_francesco_lazio , was about the production of new work to be permanently installed along the "Route of Francis", which is travelled by hundreds of trekkers and pilgrims every year. Sustainability, traditions of local communities, and a more informed relation with Nature were at the core of my reflection during these intense days. The work, titled Sponte, is composed of a giant cyanotype of the edible plants available along the path, and a recipe book to make the most of them. Have a look at it on my website following the link in bio. Thank you @rete_via_di_francesco for the opportunity, and my colleagues for the enriching discussions and mutual support during the week. Very happy to share the final steps of my journey on caring and ethical photography!  The 6th of September at 19.00 I'll be in Toffia 📍 #33oc.artresidency presenting new work! I will also deliver a  workshop about #gazing. Please come along!  What does it mean to look? How do we direct our gazes? What is the responsibility we bear while looking? A reflection mostly needed in those times of objectification of the female body.  The event is part of the project Techniques and Methodologies for Caring and Ethical Photography by Dafne Salis supported by Strategia Fotografia 2024, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. #DGCC #creativitacontemporanea #fotografia #strategiafotografia2024 #vulnerability#inclinations #photographicgaze #diffraction #dafnesalis

Meet the panelist - 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 @cascoleuven moss collective will explore how artists materially transform photographic archives, reframing their surfaces as sites of healing, resistance and agency, engaging artist, subject and viewer. Are images the wound inflicted, the scar that remains, or the new skin that emerges after molting? @curatedbymoss is a transborder curatorial collective founded in 2020 by Lotte Egtberts, Elisa Maupas, Lucie Ménard and Anna Stoppa. Strengthened by the complementarity of their profiles (artist, scientist, mediator, and art historian) and their various professional experiences (galleries, institutions and artist-run spaces in France, Belgium, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands), they work organically prioritizing horizontal collaboration with artists, embracing vulnerability and co- dependence as assets in a competitive professional context. In 2022, the collective received a research grant from the Institute of Photography in Lille for the project Deal with it - Aesthetics of repair. moss Collective will be represented by Lucie Ménard @lucienaimoka Head of Educational and Cultural Programmes at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in Tourcoing (France) and independent curator. Meet the panelist - 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 @cascoleuven Jana Johanna Haeckel is an art historian, curator, and lecturer based in Brussels. During the talk, she will discuss artistic engagements with troubled image archives as a form of caring and collective world-building. By focusing on intuitive and sensuous knowledge production, the introduced artistic works offer reparative and at the same time playful counter-imagery, giving visibility to lived realities that are often left out, erased or forgotten in the legacies of hegemonic historiographies. @jana.j.haeckel holds a PhD in art history and works as independent curator. She currently lectures at the Photography and Curatorial Studies Department at KASK & Conservatorium @schoolofartsgent where she also supervises the research cluster Archival Sensations. Prior to this, she has served as director of Photoforum Pasquart in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, and has worked as curator and project manager for the Goethe-Institut Brussels, as guest-curator for Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and as curator at Acud Gallery Berlin. She was a lecturer at various international universities and art schools. Her essays and reviews have been published in The British Journal of Photography, Trigger, EIKON, Monopol, Mousse Magazine and elsewhere. A thought through the photographic lenses.   📍 Casa Internazionale delle Donne, the 9th of May 2025, h. 17.00.  The invited panelists are Art History Associate Professor, Francesco Ventrella, from the University of Sussex, who will explore the relationship between recovery and resonance in their relation to portraiture, self-writing and historical narratives. Nora Heidorn, PhD curator and researcher, will present her long-term curatorial research project Being Horizontal, which investigates the gazes with which we look at reclined and inclined bodies differently to upright figures, informed by the essay 'Inclinazioni' by A. Cavarero; and Dr.Isabella Pinto, PhD, Research fellow (University of Perugia), and co-coordinator of the Master's program in Gender Studies and Policies (University of Roma Tre) who will delve into the concept of diffraction, following the writings of Donna Haraway and Karen Barad.
