“Pimeala” režissöör Anna Hints teeb globaalsed probleemid globaalseks. Me kõik väärime elada ühe taeva all! “Tuli tuha all” lühifilmide kogumik on saanud palju kiidusõnu, mine kinno! 1. I would like to emphasize that “Pimeala” is not only an Indian film. It is an Estonian film. It is a global film. 2. Child sexual abuse material circulates through the dark web across the world. We cannot treat this as “someone else’s problem.” 3. In the same way, India’s landfills are not only filled with India’s waste. A large part of global production has been outsourced to countries with cheaper labor, including India, where pollution, waste, and consequences accumulate — not to mention exploitative working conditions. 4. All of this so that we can live in cleaner environments and avoid asking uncomfortable questions: where do our clothes, our technology, or our food come from? 5. India is my second home through my partner in life & art Tushar Prakash. It was there that we met a NGO working against human trafficking, and a community where women wanted to share their stories. This is how Surya’s story was born. 6. In the film, we hear the voices of women whom the system does not see. They have no passports. They have no family names. 7. For the system, they are almost non-existent — invisible. The most vulnerable are children, especially girls. When something happens to them, often no one cares. This makes them particularly vulnerable to trafficking. 8. We made the film in collaboration with a local NGO Salaam Baalak Trust that gives children the opportunity to find their voice through art. “Sannapäiva” režissöörid Anna Hints ja Tushar Prakash jagavad mõtteid filmi loomisest ja loomusest. Lühifilmide kogumik “Tuli tuha all” on kinodes üle terve Eesti! (1) “Sannapäiv” is a poem, a haiku. (2) We worked with a real community in South Estonia. The men actually built the roof they are speaking about in sauna over the course of three days. (3) This process became a way of integrating the two actors into the community. On the fourth day, we shot the scenes you see in the film. (4) Smoke sauna becomes for us as a canvas through which to explore intimacy and vulnerability. (5) Compared to Anna’s feature documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, what is important here is not what is said, but what is unsaid. (6) Silence and rituals function as a language of their own. (7) We are exploring social coding — how men interact in a group versus in more intimate, private spaces. 🏆 “Sauna Day” by Anna Hints and Tushar Prakash that is currently screening in Estonian cinemas as part of a short film collection “A Blaze Beneath the Ashes” has a few reasons to celebrate. On last Friday, the film screened at GOGA Film Festival in Rome where it was awarded Visioni Ribelli (Rebel Visions) Prize, granted by festival’s jury of cinema students. 🙌 Big thanks for the recognition! And in the end of March, Rasmus Kaljujärv (2nd from the right) who played Jaak in the film, took home the prestigious Best Male Lead award at the Estonian Theatre Awards Ceremony for his role in a play “Fever.” 👏👏👏 Big congratulations from all the ladies and gentlemen who had a pleasure working with you on “Sauna Day”
