Over the last year — with all its ups and downs — I’ve watched you grow, change, mature and become a young man! A VERY tall young man. You are warm, courageous and consistent. You look out for others, you show up as a great friend, a wonderful son, and just a brilliant human being.
I am so proud of how you’ve navigated life this past year, and especially these last six months. The strength of character, resilience and confidence you’ve shown — I’m not sure you even knew you had it in you. But I’ve seen it. I see it in spades. I see it in the way you carry yourself, in how you treat the people around you, and in how deeply you love those you love.
Keep being you. Keep aiming high.

I’ve been marveling at how much I have to be grateful for as I turned 50 yesterday!
I won’t deny, it has been an incredibly tough couple of years and this year especially has stretched me and challenged me in ways I did not think I’d have to experience.
Through it I’ve seen that this guy cheers me on, is exorbitantly positive, patient, loving, creative and supportive of me. My own insecurities, doubts and fears often get in the way of me seeing this, believing it or living it with him. Our journey has not been straight forward. But we found each other at a time when we both needed healing.
The last 11 years doing this journey with him have at times felt like we’ve been climbing a giant mountain we’d never summit. Maybe we still haven’t, but one thing I’ve realised this week especially is that we are a team and we are doing this journey together, growing, climbing and getting stronger. So many things this year have made us recognise the preciousness of life and all that we have.
This week as we moved towards my big birthday, the sense of team and togetherness grew louder and louder. I’ve realised the safe place we have become for each other, the place where we can truly be ourselves.
One thing I know is that I LOVE all the crazy and creativity of Jeff! I know I am meant to, and I love to love him for who he is. I do not want to change the essence of this man and I celebrate him in return this week. He has shown me just how much he knows me, loves me and values who I am and my essence.
Gosh, I am so grateful. Grateful for the marriage I am seeing the fruit in now, our blended family and the home Josh is getting to grow up in with this man. I am grateful for a momentary reprieve of the struggle to acknowledge, celebrate and be grateful. Hoping and praying the journey that has weathered us, we can also now carry with a little more ease. Happiest of Birthdays to this guy! The Captain of our lives!! Oh where do I start??!! Bringer of FUN, Adventure and endless creativity. You make our world brighter, crazier and full of colour! Life and adventures with you are scratched in our memories forever! Our kids will tell tales of crazy hikes and trespassing to their kids and grandkids! Happy 10th Wedding Anniversary @jeffschmidt.art - it’s been an adventure that’s for sure! Plenty of fun (dress up galore, but I honestly love you for it and it makes me smile) So grateful to have met you and had this second chance at marriage. We are still learning - about each other and how to do married life again as a blended family! But I love the adventure with you and I love you. Thank you for the last ten years! Every time! But music is a real motivation when enticing a teenage boy to clean! The fun we’ve had! And I’m hoping his future wife will thank me! She will just have to entice with music too!!
It was great pleasure to attend 2025 South Master Builder Award ceremony last week. Unfortunately we didn’t get a desired and deserved result, but the whole team enjoyed that unusual for us night out.
