Join artist Cecile Chong for ACCENT STUDIO, a participatory art project celebrating the many accents, languages, and voices that shape NYC and Queens. Explore calligraphy and writing in Chinese, Kichwa, Spanish, English, and your own languages, contributing to a growing collective artwork of words and shared expression. Presented as the AnkhLave cohort prepares public art installations for the Queens Botanical Garden this August. All ages welcome.
This past Saturday, our Garden Project Fellows presented their project proposals 🌱✨ Each idea was thoughtful, imaginative, and deeply unique, and we can’t wait to watch these projects grow into reality over the coming months.
Stop by the house on @governorsisland Saturdays & Sundays from 11am–5pm to get a glimpse into what they’re creating and follow along as their visions come to life 💚

Echoes of Home: Egypt
First presented in Cairo Egypt, in this exhibition, AnkhLave Arts Alliance brings together artists whose works reflect collective memory, ancestry, and cultural inheritance. Featuring 37 artists, these works are a celebration of identity, creativity and wisdom across generations.
About the curator:
Dario Mohr is a first generation Grenadian, U.S. Citizen with West African and Italian heritage, born in 1988. Based in New York City, Mohr is an interdisciplinary artist, educator and non profit leader. He received a BFA in Painting from Buffalo State College, an MFA in Studio Art from The City College of New York and an Advanced Certificate in Art Education from Queens College. He is also Founder and Director of AnkhLave Arts Alliance, Inc., a non-profit arts organization for presenting BIPOC artists in public spaces.
We’re open Saturdays and Sundays, 11–5. Come spend some time with the work, let it settle, and see where it takes you.
