My DOMESTIKA Blender course has reached over 1.000 students! To celebrate this milestone, here are some of their projects! I have a REAL hard time celebrating (or even sharing!) my achievements. I’m trying to change that, and one thing that really helped was reading my course’s feedback! So I’d like to thank everyone who was interested in learning Blender with me, who wrote a comment, finished the projects, and even left a review! Teaching is something I truly love to do, and one of my favorite ways to do it is: sharing what I’m learning! I did that with Blender (that’s how Domestika noticed me!), and now I’m doing the same thing with gamedev. If you’re interested in checking out my course, you’ll find the link in my bio! FEATURED ARTIST: Anita Bhatia 'As someone who has a deep appreciation for all types of creative expression, I have always explored different types of art making. I have a mutual love for traditional fine art and digital art, and often am interested in where the two can meet and relate to each other. While my drawings are often figurative, and my experience working in animation is technical, my paintings come to me in abstract form. There are many subject matters I am interested in, as well as mediums and techniques, but I feel like painting has allowed me to truly express an inner landscape of thought. As the human body fascinates me, so do the functions of each individual piece of us. 🚨 Atomic Artist Spotlight🚨 Name: Anita Bhatia Position: Currently a Harmony Compositor but I have worked in 2D FX and 2D Builds before and love all three departments! Highlight of your career: Working on “Hilda”. It was probably the smallest team I have worked on, professionally. I loved working on the show, and I love the show’s content, heart and creativity.  Favorite animated show/movie: Too many to name. Some of them include - Arthur, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, for TV shows. For movies, Inside Out, Frozen and anything from the Disney’s Renaissance in the 90s. Favorite type of animation: 2D. I like 3D and I love to see how advanced animation has become, but 2D will always be my first love. I also really enjoy seeing graphic shapes, and black outlines around characters - very classic cartoony stuff.  Where did you go to school: I’ve studied at Langara and Emily Carr for my degree in Fine Arts. And then Vanarts for Animation. Favorite animated characters: Elsa, Stitch, Tom and Jerry, Mable Pines, the list goes on forever. Name someone you admire in the animation industry: Juan Carlos Lapiz, Nadine Westerbarkey, Lindsay Knowler. These people have such big and generous hearts. I strive to be like them. I also admire all my teachers from Vanarts circa 2014. Why is Atomic a great place to work: Atomic cares about their artists and the studio itself is very artist driven, with our needs coming first. I also love the culture and chill, friendly vibe that the studio brings, whether working in house or remotely. When I am not working at Atomic, I am drawing and reading in my spare time, hanging out with my dog, and going for walks to enjoy the nature we have within the bustling city of Vancouver. This year, I have started teaching online cartooning classes for children, and doing pet portraits with proceeds going to the SPCA, an organization I deeply support. 💟let me introduce my best-artist friend💟 Her name is Anita. She's been my best friend, editor, coworker, sister and bride made ! She has the best soothing personality. I just love to be around her. I don't need to pretend I'm an adult when we are together. I just can be silly me-myself 😆 she loves turtle, so she akses me to draw a turtle. So I drew this! Heheheh Why there is a dolphin??? This week’s Featured Artist is Anita Bhatia. Anita Bhatia loves drawing a variety of subject matter in a variety of mediums. From portraits, to repeating patterns, to cartoony puns, it is all fun for her. She has a few original characters, including a heart and brain from her short comic series “Disheartening”, to Soaperman, a character made during the age of Covid-19. She loves both digitally and traditionally drawing and combining the two to create fun and sometimes punny images. She loves working at Atomic as a compositor and it helps her inform her own personal art practice on so many levels.
