Vivian Ip Wing-wun is a conductor recognised for her expressive musicianship and dynamic stage presence. Hailing from Hong Kong, she graduated with First Class Honours in Music from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where she later returned as a lecturer. She also earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Indiana University Bloomington and a Magistra Artium in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Her professional journey includes roles such as Assistant Conductor with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (2016-2018), where she worked with Music Director Jaap van Zweden and Principal Guest Conductor Yu Long. As the Music Director of the Xing-er Symphony Orchestra in Guangzhou (2017-2022), she led the ensemble to earn a Gold Award at the 6th World Orchestra Festival in Vienna in 2018. She co-founded ANIMA Ensemble in 2023, and served as Associate Conductor of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta from 2023 to 2026. In a remarkable achievement, she became the first conductor from Hong Kong to win a prize at the prestigious International Ferenc Fricsay Conducting Competition in Hungary, in September 2025. Vivian Ip will be conducting “The Diary”, an innovative fusion of opera, dance, and media art theatre, on 1 and 2 May at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
