Nataal exclusive: Anil Padia launches Yoshita 1967 (@yoshita1967 ) at PFW with a sensorial journey through his Indo-Kenyan heritage. The debut collection, ‘Temple Road’, has been handmade by his team of artisans in Nairobi and invites us to dance into the highlands of central Kenya with a series of crochet looks embellished with delicate mirror and silver bell adornments. “The brand unifies the unheard voices of the women in my life and the censured stories in my lineage. It is a liberation of our collective karma. It is me coming home to myself,” Padia says. “Between the triangle of Nairobi, Mumbai/Delhi and Paris, Yoshita 1967 will continue to celebrate the interconnectedness of these cultures.” See the full story on Nataal.com Creative direction, expective production, styling Anil Padia (@anilpadia ) Direction Michael Mwangi Maina (@mbaalamwezi ) DOP Fred Odede (@capturedbyodede ) Production Iona McCreath (@iona_mccreath ), Rosa Luca Wakarindi (@lucarindii ) Casting Michael Mwangi Maina (@mbaalamwezi ), Iona McCreath Models Akidor Doye (@ms.akidor ), Yar Aguer (@yar.aguer ), Shallet Jill (@shallet_jill ), Nyariek Wiyual (@nyariek_wiyual2 ), Agnetta Asira (@aggie_asira ), Nyanpath (@eliza_yarito ), Georgina (@geo.wanjala ), Barbara Akinyi (@babi_akinyi ), Suzie Osue (@osue_suzy ) Hair & make-up Jamie Kimani (@jamiekimani ) Gaffering Gregory Kiwo (@kiwomaole ) Production design Mary Muko (@nitakach0 ), Brian Mathenge Production design assistance Henry Otwama, Mary Wangare, Victor Kiguta Styling assistance Dalton Odiyo (@odiiyo ) Styling interning Delight Mutiso (@delight.mutiso ) Make-up assistance Sally Shadeya (@sally_shadeya ) Hair assistance Liz Oriaro (@lizz_highstylist ) Assistant production David Kimani, Timothy Mathuva, Bryan Karanja, Tinashe Mwaniki Words Helen Jennings (@hellojennings ) #nataalmedia #yoshita1967 #kenya #anilpadia

Our WE, MAJI issue launches on Friday! Guest edited by Sunny Dolat, NATAAL celebrates the talents who are shaping the future of Kenyan creativity, alongside their global peers – spanning from Rio to Dublin. Tying these stories together is a meditation on Maji (water in Swahili). Mystic Tides, our first cover story, takes us to the beautiful shores of Lamu with Yoshita 1967 to explore the brand’s fluid interplay of gender and identity.
