Today is a sad day. Last week this page got a message in saying Monica / MDragonfly has passed. It took a few days to verify. I was not in touch with her that often but when we talked we always talked about meeting up one day. Monica has been my main contact for the band since day 1 when I offered K and M to release Weighing Souls In Sand on vinyl. Initially they already had a deal in place but when that fell through they approached me to do it and of course I said yes. This was an album that impacted me profoundly and still is one of my favourite albums ever. Kris was short and to the point in his messages via email ("yes", "no", "let's do it"), Monica was always warmer and lively when we spoke via email. When Kris died she took over our contact. She was easy to work with and always up for a new project (box set! Repress! Remaster of WSWS? Yes! yes! yes! yes!). The last few months I was not in contact with her - as I thought there was no rush and there was nothing really to take up with her or coordinate. Now - of course - I wish I had. Monica died on her 46th birthday. R.I.P. Monica Cosper Henson (April 1, 1977 — April 1, 2023) (Jurgen) /obituaries/monica-henson

Thanks to Bolt for including The Angelic Process in their list of influences: "Sometimes you come across a band that just pushes the right buttons. The Angelic Process did just that for me. The deeply emotional and noisy music created by Monica Dragynfly and Kris Angylus are for me one of the most important artists in the drone metal genre." /b-o-l-t-takes-viewers-on-a-thrilling-voyage-into-space-with-new-video-32-the-band-draws-attention-to-the-female-and-non-binary-side-of-music-making-through-their-playlist/

"In music all feelings return to their pure state and the world is nothing but music made reality." - Arthur Schopenhauer Music transcends reality and there is music that transcends music. The Angelic Process were one of those cases where sounds embody the purest form of feelings, even beyond life. /critica/angelic-process-weighing-souls-with-sand

#Repost @visualize_industrial_collapse • • • • • • Album Of The Day The Angelic Process “Weighing Souls with Sand” When most people hear the obnoxious generic designator “drone/doom,” they think Nadja. The only real monument in this sub-sub-subgenre, however, is this album. Funeral doom and black metal bands have tried time and time again to capture what it sounds like to be trapped in the pit of utmost despair, but no one ever succeeded like Kris Angylus. Tragically, Kris was way too familiar with this feeling and took his own life (the few biographical details I’ve read about the problems he struggled with are incredibly sad). Obviously, this was a huge loss for fans of genuinely creative underground music, because “Weighing Souls with Sand” is absolutely one of a kind. Real musical pioneers are individuals who “with half their hearts inhabit other worlds,” to use the phrase of a forgotten poet who succumbed to the same fate as Kris. Let’s not forget what a loss his death was to those of us still stuck in this world. #theangelicprocess #shoegaze #doom #undergroundmusic #industrialmusic #albumoftheweek #suicideawarness

Scene Point Blank included WSWS as one of it's 5 most comforting records of the year-list: "Distilling its genre down to one easy description is difficult as it encompasses drone and doom, metal and over-driven effects. It's heavy in ways that you don't expect and heartbreaking at its most destructive." /features/music/2020-a-year-in-review/3/

And because all digital platforms did not include Bandcamp here it is on that platform as well: / Thinking of adding all albums to this site so to have them all in one place.
