Angel holds a second degree Usui Reiki certification and is an artist making work focused on healing the mind, body, and spirit through the manipulation of energetic systems with geometry, intention, and prayer.
We had the honor of hosting Cusco-based artist and musician Oswaldo Povea this month at Chokechaka, where he led a forging workshop for two of our resident artists. Oswaldo is a master metalworker from Cusco who learned the craft from his father, also a master metalworker, continuing a lineage of knowledge passed hand to hand and generation to generation.
The intention of the workshop was to learn basic metalworking skills while also creating a few magical objects for Eliza and Angel’s alchemical practices. Working with fire, metal, and focused intention, they forged a scrying bowl and a magic wand—objects shaped as much by process and collaboration as by material.
We’re deeply grateful to Oswaldo for sharing his skills, stories, and presence, and for reminding us of the quiet power that lives in traditional craft and collective making.

La semana pasada, tuvimos el honor de recibir al artista y músico cusqueño Oswaldo Povea en Chokechaka, donde impartió un taller de forja para dos de nuestros artistas residentes. Oswaldo es un maestro metalúrgico cusqueño que aprendió el oficio de su padre, también maestro metalúrgico, continuando así una tradición de conocimientos que se transmite de mano en mano y de generación en generación.
El objetivo del taller era aprender técnicas básicas de metalistería y, al mismo tiempo, crear algunos objetos mágicos para las prácticas alquímicas de Eliza y Ángel. Trabajando con fuego, metal y una intención concentrada, forjaron un cuenco de adivinación y una varita mágica, objetos moldeados tanto por el proceso y la colaboración como por el material.
Estamos profundamente agradecidos con Oswaldo por compartir sus habilidades, historias y presencia, y por recordarnos el poder silencioso que reside en la artesanía tradicional y la creación colectiva.

The beating heart of the O+ Festival is the Artists' Clinic, where the back of the Old Dutch Church is transformed into a healing space where all the participating musicians and artists (and super volunteers) can access 3 healthcare services in exchange for their contribution to the festival. These services range from acupuncture and chiropractic, to massage, reiki, dermatology, mental health services and MUCH more.
The healthcare providers who will be featured here in the coming days have volunteered their time because of their deep appreciation for our community, the arts, and the connection between the two.
