PAPI. One of many new paintings and drawings that I will be showing at my next solo exhibit “Somos” (We are) that will be opening Saturday, May 23 from 5 to 8 PM at @opositivefest exchange space. I’ve been working very hard on these paintings and drawings and I hope you can all join me in Kingston, New York, Saturday, May 23! . Many of the works are inspired from photographs of various news articles, family portraits and historical photography catalogs. The work contains immigrant families, laborers, and American born workers in the same series bridging the groups and showcasing the many commonalities that they share. The protagonists are painted with happy and hopeful demeanors in an illustrative style that creates accessibility to a wide range of audiences and invites them to rethink the family, the immigrant and the American worker narrative. . . . #painting #immigrant #american #exhibit #upstateny

David Wimbish is one of the most underrated songwriters in underground music. His music threads the needle between anthemic pop-rock and intimate folk, and every song has a hook that’s bound to get stuck in your head. On May 16, he’s headed to O+ Exchange in Kingston as part of his current tour. TJ Foster caught up with him ahead of the show for an insightful chat, which you can check out over on our website now. You can also read the full Q&A via his column “Confessions From the Underground” in our latest print issue, available now! **For a more indepth conversation with David Wimbish, check out this month’s Confessions From the Underground column in our May print issue!**

Welcome our new year-round O+ Clinic Admin & Outreach team member, Veronika D’Aragona❤️‍🩹🎉 She’s a health professional who recently received her Master of Science in Applied Nutrition from the University of New England, and is currently pursuing her license to become a Registered Dietitian. Veronika is also a certified yoga instructor with a particular interest in restorative yoga and breathwork. As a Hudson Valley native, she has an immense desire to give back to the community that helped shape her. Through Veronika’s previous role as a community health worker at a rural hospital in Ulster County, she quickly learned about the disparities community members faced in terms of lack of access to healthcare and food. This experience motivated her to continue to pursue work that promotes health equity and helps create systemic change that better serves the community❤️‍🩹 If you’re an O+ Alumni looking to book a medical, dental, or wellness appointment, please visit the link in our bio or: opositivefestival.org/alumni-care-request/

Going West. This is one of the paintings that I will have in my next solo exhibition called “Somos” that will be opening on Saturday, May 23 from 5 to 8 PM at the @opositivefest exchange space in Kingston NY. I will have 10 new paintings, around 20 new drawings and an installation of a traveling Casita. . Many of the works are inspired from photographs of various news articles, family portraits and historical photography catalogs. The work contains immigrant families, laborers, and American born workers in the same series bridging the groups and showcasing the many commonalities that they share. The protagonists are painted with happy and hopeful demeanors in an illustrative style that creates accessibility to a wide range of audiences and invites them to rethink the family, the immigrant and the American worker narrative. . This particular painting was influenced by the amazing photo from Dorothea Lange. . . . #painting #ny #kingston #upstateny #gallery

JOIN US this Saturday for our ‘In CO+nversation’ event + Q&A with artists @casey_inch_studio and @sarahebrookart 🗣️🖼️ 🗓️SAT MAY 9 ⌚️1-3pm 📍334 Wall St. Kingston, NY 🎟️Free event - all are welcome! ABOUT THE ARTISTS ⬇️ CASEY INCH (b. 1982) is a New York based painter and educator. His journey as an artist began at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, studying under a landscape painter. This exposure to the vastness and grandeur of the American West, bookended by life in a dense urban environment, has pushed his landscapes away from a focus on observations of the natural world toward a critical view of mankind’s collective relationship to it. Inch exhibits his work nationally, with numerous exhibitions in NYC and throughout the Hudson Valley. 🔗Visit the link in our bio to continue reading and learn more about Casey🖼️ 👉caseyinchstudio.com 👉@casey_inch_studio SARAH E. BROOK (b. 1981, Reno, NV) builds public artworks, sculptures and installations as both perceptual explorations and abstract narratives of identity. They have exhibited at the Leslie-Lohman Museum, New York: Lesley Heller, NY; Field Projects, NY; NARS, NY; Ground Floor Gallery, NY and the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, among others. New York solo exhibitions include Open Source Gallery, Turley Gallery, Sweet Lorraine Gallery, The Vanderbilt Republic and Greenpoint Gallery. Brook was also included in the 2019 BRIC Biennial in Brooklyn, curated by Elizabeth Ferrer and Jennifer Gerow. They were awarded the Leslie-Lohman Museum Fellowship, the Media Arts Fellowship from BRIC, and residencies from Montello Foundation, Stove Works, Marble House Projects, I-Park, SPACE on Ryder Farm, Jentel Foundation, Playa and Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. 🔗Visit the link in our bio to continue reading and learn more about Sarah🖼️ 👉/
