Salute to one of the best!
Chris & I kind of knew each other in Newcastle, acknowledging each other with a knowing nod whenever we bumped into one another, but our friendship really cemented itself around 21 years ago when he stayed over at the flat our mutual friend Alejandro & I shared. A chance glimpse at my laptop, which had my Juno wishlist open, sparked a night-long session of sharing music & getting cosmic, laying the foundations for our various musical guises.
He loved music & was an exceptional DJ, but for him it was never about ego, always about the party itself & making sure everyone had a good time. He was extremely generous & caring; if we made any money at our doo’s, he was always adamant that it was spent on everyone at the afters, and his hospitality at “Rave HQ” helped friendships form that will last a lifetime.
He drew you in with his infectious personality, dry wit, and nonchalant coolness. He had a way of making you feel special with harmless, private, silly jokes, songs & nicknames. He was a cosmic raconteur, a beautiful buffoon — one minute in a pair of high heels or a dress he’d impossibly squeezed into, the next doing his infamous lasso dance or singing his amazing rendition of Paul Young & Zucchero’s Senza Una Donna, which always made me laugh no matter how many times I saw or heard it.
He really didn’t like to make a fuss about his illness; we’d often even joke about it when we met up. I’d seen enough of his stamina and tolerance through the years to think he’d be OK & that there was nothing to worry about. He always concentrated on the positive things in his & all his friends’ lives, and he’d get excited talking about his future plans. It was a beautiful thing seeing him and Sarah so happy on their wedding day.
I feel truly honoured to call him my friend & blessed to have spent so many good times with him throughout the years. My heart goes out to Sarah and his parents, who cared for him so lovingly & have been a tower of strength throughout. I’m still trying to comprehend how much I’m going to miss him, but I know he’ll always be there — with me and with all of us.

Last month, we released part one of the new Not An Animal compilation to mark its tenth anniversary. This week, we're delighted to announce that part two is about to be thrown out of the nest to fend for itself.
We're overwhelmed with the support we've received and never thought we'd garner as much material as we did, so much so that we had to split it into two parts. We feel it's a fitting representation of our evolution over the years and of our tastes both on and off the dance floor. We are humbled to have the opportunity and platform to showcase such a broad church of talent, and would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the project.
