So this just happened at @siggraphasia in HK.. I went to say hello to an absolute legend in the VFX / computer graphics world, Paul Debevec after his talk.., IF you’ve ever seen a little movie called the Matrix or any other movie with VFX that followed.. Chances are Paul’s research played a part… Photogrammetry wouldn’t exist without his research present in a 1996 siggraph, Technical paper. Anyone who works in 3D and lit their scene with a HDRI - yeah that was Paul too… I mean….🤯 Some comments on his @corridordigital channel : “It's crazy to me that he didn't really invent one pivotal thing, he pretty much invented all of it. The entire film, gaming, and VFX industry exists as it does today because this one guy felt like it.” “This man is not a professor of CGI. He's The Professor. He is a freaking Einstein of CGI.” Anyway, I ended up inadvertently directing a photo shoot and meeting Tia Carrere.. (Party On) [BTW : The @insta360 cam certainly wasn’t supposed to be recording. Completely forgot from shooting some of the @siggraphasia exhibition floor for Reels… u can imagine my surprise 🤣] Thx @tiacarrere & Paul Debevec for the Saki drink invite… I just missed you. #NotADrone - Sunday morning 11:57am, Tai Kwun, H.K. It’s been a busy weekend working on our SUMATRA project, so when a friend asked for help to take some quick 360 shots in The beautiful Magistracy, in return for a free lunch(*) I jumped at the chance for some human interaction 🤣 Just shy of 3min before service I took this shot. How on earth I timed it to be exactly 1:30min for a reel I have no idea… Some important points : 1) Not a drone (as u can see in the mirror) 2) not planned (obv’s) 3) 2 times I had staff ask “who’s wearing XXX Cologne… Apparently it was me…yet I don’t even know the name… @blacksheeprestaurants hope u don’t mind me posting this. Mirrored surfaces on buildings should be banned! OR at least rules out in place to ensure the building will not harm wildlife. This happens to too often. Sometimes multiple birds lay scattered in front of my local Starbucks @ One island south.. Please @ Wheelock properties, do the right thing. Absolutely love this ❤️ Little Pippilotta should be angry and bitter at the world after being inflicted with a brain injury when she was a puppy. But like so many dogs she decides to live in the moment and wanted to share a message of love today. She wouldn’t be here today were it not for the dedication of Sybille @my.disabled.hairy.friends finding her and building her life back up. I can say with 100% absolute certainty that she would not have made it alone. She couldn’t even eat for the first week. Im just lucky to have someone like Sybille to help and we can swing in with @wearehappydoggo to make sure the complicated process of getting Pippilotta a perfect place to live and her own humans goes smoothly.
