Very happy and excited to share Coastal Soundforms, my second field recording composition album. If you’d like to listen to it - the bandcamp page link is in my bio. Again, this album is made entirely from my own field recordings; no other sounds or instruments were used. Massive thank you to Kamile Korsakaite @redenblu for making the artwork - you’re the best. ❤️
Coastal Soundforms is made from coastal recordings from the UK (Dungeness, Camber Sands, Brighton, Bournemouth), Lithuania (Neringa, Palanga), Netherlands (Texel), Portugal (Lisbon, Cascais), Morocco (Taghazout, Mirleft), Italy (Venice). As the name suggests, it is an exploration of sounds found on shorelines. Crashing waves and gentle streams, buzzing urban beach soundscapes and barren headlands. When composing I had a narrative in mind, but I decided to leave it unexplained, so that maybe you could make up your own. If you will, I’d love to hear what it was.
I have made some video/picture montages from locations that formed the foundations of each track of the album. Below is some background on each of them, as much as I can remember:
1. Boca de Inferno, Cliff - Not far from Lisbon there’s a town named Cascais. It hosts a massive cliff and a chasm named Boca de Inferno (Hell’s Mouth), which gets relentlessly bashed by thunderous waves. We were standing on the cliff edge, which had fascinating eroded rock formations. The cliff seemed around 30m high, but when a wave smashed into it, the water propelled into the air and sprinkled on top of our heads. And on the rocks, which I presume eroded from this phenomenon. This sound opens Coastal Soundforms and is a recurring motif throughout the piece.
Ran out of characters for the post! Descriptions of the other tracks are in the comments below.

We’ve been distracted by bears for a while! 🐻
And that distraction became a 10-minute radio piece, which we are happy to share in both the original Lithuanian version and an English-subtitled one (links in our bios). Its creation happened during a particularly beautiful late summer and autumn in Lithuania, over which we spoke with naturalists, biologists, journalists, mushroom pickers, hunters, friends, and passers-by. The piece is a collage of their thoughts and responses to our questions about bears, fears, ethics, sound and everything in between.
This work was created as part of LRT’s radio academy. We are deeply grateful to LRT, especially the radio documentary team and our mentor Inga Janiulytė-Temporin. And to everyone we met along the way and who agreed to chat with us. We learned so much during this process, met so many inspiring people, made new friends and fell in love with the radio documentary genre. A new idea is already in our minds and growing!
If you’re interested to learn more about the concept behind the piece do check out the description in the youtube video (English) and LRT radio archive website (Lithuanian)
While looking for bears we recorded many soundscapes in Lithuania, in nature and in urban areas. For this instagram post we wanted to share some of them. During this process it became apparent that it wouldn’t matter how deep we went into the forest, capturing a human-less recording was incredibly hard - anthrophonic sounds were always present in some shape or form. More info on each soundscape in the comments.

Thailand soundscapes (part 3) 🎧
*these pictures have sound!
Final bit of sounds from our trip to Thailand. This one focuses on wildlife sounds, biophonies (although most have human sounds in various degrees). I’ve uploaded longer versions of some of the soundscapes to my soundcloud page for anyone interested (link in bio). Also - If anyone could help me identify more species in these recordings, please let me know! (or if I made any mistakes😅)
1. 30/11/2023 Late evening rainforest ambiences in Khao Sok National Park.
Khao Sok hosts an ancient rainforest, which we were fortunate to explore a little. One evening I went on a solo mission to capture some evening rainforest ambiences. I started the trek at dusk and the sun went down surprisingly quickly. Pitch black, although I had a flashlight. This was my first time in the jungle and I have to admit my heart rate did go up quite a bit haha. But after a while, the initial adrenalin calmed down and it became incredibly soothing. Long-tailed macaques vocalizing, a brown wood owl (I believe?), and an insect chorus. Absolutely mesmerising experience. This was very close to our camp though, hopefully one day (soon!) we’ll be able to go on a deeper trip!
2. 29/11/2023 Rainforest treehouse camp in Khao Sok National Park.
Daytime ambience from roughly the same location. Credit to Erikas and Goda for finding this rainforest treehouse camp, in a gorgeous valley. This particular recording was made close to our hut, by a small stream. A family of long-tailed macaque monkeys periodically used to swing over to check out what the tourists and locals were doing, presumably looking for a bite to eat. They can be heard vocalising in the recording, as well as chorusing insects and the stream.
3. 30/11/2023 Frogs. After the jungle recordings, back at the camp, a bunch of Black-sided woodfrogs (Sylvirana nigrovittata) started vocalizing. Fortunately they didn’t seem to mind me getting close and allowed me to capture this closeup recording.

Thailand soundscapes (part 2) 🎧
These recordings focus mostly on running water. From small streams to rivers to roaring waterfalls. Primordial sounds, geophonies. Never ceases to fascinate me how different running water can sound!
1. 2. 3. 26/11/2023 Creeks, streams and small waterfalls, Phalad hiking trail in Chiang Mai.
We went to explore a mountain trail in Chiang Mai, known as ‘Monk’s Trail’. The hike leads to two beautiful temples, although we only had time to visit one of them - Wat Pha Lat. Birds, insect choruses and all sorts of sounds can be heard on the trail, various water streams taking center stage. I’ve glued together a bunch of these water recordings, in various intensities and tonalities. Fancy video courtesy of Gabriele experimenting with some new toys haha.
5. 6. 27/11/2023 Waterfalls in Doi Inthanon National Park.
We chose to go on a guided tour around Chiang Mai, to see and hear the rivers and waterfalls among other things. The first compilation has mostly river soundscapes at different proximities, the second one waterfalls at full power. I have compiled the soundscapes together with hard cuts in the video, which I find highlights the differences in sonic qualities.
Last one has no sound, just a picture I like, snapped by Goda. ❤️

Thailand soundscapes (part 1)
(These pictures have sound!) 🎧
About a year ago, we travelled to Thailand with some dear friends. I collected some audio souvenirs and finally managed to process and share them. It was such a privilege to explore Thailand and going through the recordings felt like being there a second time. I hope you enjoy these snippets. Please put on some headphones when listening. I brought back quite a lot of recordings, so I figured I'd separate them into three parts. This being PART 1, focusing on urban, cultural sounds, anthrophonies.
1. 24/11/2023 Bangkok Saket Temple gongs. Headphones are particularly needed to hear this one, as phone speakers won't reproduce the deep, bassy sounds. An ambience recorded at the top of the temple, where two gongs are positioned at opposite sides. Tourists are free to strike the gongs. In the recording it is Gabriele and I playing them. Chanting monks can be heard in the background, and a hubbub of tourists.
2. 24/11/2023 Bangkok Saket Temple bells. Some bell recordings from the same temple, on an outdoor stairway area. A large number of these big bells were placed throughout the entire trek up to the top. And I’d say hundreds, or even thousands, of smaller bells, chimes and so on. Each with slightly different characteristics, tonalities. Once again tourists are free to play the bells, in the recording I am activating a couple of them. A monk can silently be heard speaking through a loudspeaker, along with a couple of birds and some tourists.
3. 27/11/2023 An evening parade in Chiang Mai during the Yi Peng lantern festival. The city center hosted a seemingly endless parade of people playing traditional instruments, dancing, carrying hand-crafted ornaments and various religious objects. The entire sky was lit up with lanterns flying, the nearby canal had a fleet of candle-lit objects called krathongs, floating downstream.

Hello all. Excited to share that I’ve released Innersounds: Location 23, my debut field recording music album. If you are interested in hearing it, there is a link to my bandcamp page in my bio. I have also attached some sound to these pictures I've taken, so you can hear a few excerpts here as well. Certainly best experienced on headphones. 🎧
A lot of people close to me have been hearing me talking about this piece for a long time now. It’s been cooking for quite a while, but it’s finally out in the ether now and I’m very happy about it. The piece follows an abstract narrative and is solely composed from acoustic and electromagnetic field recordings I made within London’s BT Tower, over numerous sessions. No other sounds or instruments were used. A sonic portrait, if you will.
A very big thank you to the very talented Kamilė Korsakaitė @redenblu for designing the album cover and all the other help. Also to the BT Tower team, John Levack Drever @levackdrever and of course Gabrielė @griciutegabriele
