best-of-work: "The stuff Freedom Is Made Of" In 2014, I had the unique opportunity to travel to Beijing to visit the artist Ai Wei Wei, who at the time was still not allowed to leave the country. Ai Wei Wei was under constant surveillance by the secret service at the time. The unit, which worked in shifts, had specifically rented the building across from AWWâs studio to monitor him. The artist was kind enough to place fresh flowers in a bicycle basket against the studio wall every day, so that the secret agents would have something beautiful to look at each day.
