Andie Taylor @andietlr “Overloader” currently on view at @thinkspace_art until August 2. Gravity’ serves as a record of otherwise forgotten events. These moments emerge from a world much like ours but fashioned through distinct evolutionary processes. To contextualise this array of motifs, we must rewind back about a decade or so, to a period when the artist resolved that he could delve into his philosophical musings without conceding to didactic implications. The resulting landscapes transformed into contemplative concepts with intertwining conversing elements.

My solo show ‘GRAVITY’ @thinkspace_art represents more to me than just the paintings on the wall. Being from Australia, as a kid, I found home far away in the few art magazines I could get my hands on. Hours spent flicking through pages. Savouring each one. Reading artist interviews and letting the pictures stare back at me like I was taking a personal tour at the Louvre. I made a habit of reading the names of the artists in group shows advertised and made note of the galleries I liked the most. @thinkspace_art so happened to feature prominently on that list. For my art to be on their walls amongst so many of my favourite artists… still blows my mind. This is also a personal celebration of firsts — my first solo show in the US that falls roughly a decade after leaving the country I was lucky enough to study art in. The place I met my wife and best friend & supporter. As a new dad, this is the first collection of works I get to show off to my kid, and while he can’t understand it now, it’s no less special to me. I hope you can make it out to see the exhibition in person if you’re in LA area. I’ll be there with my little family in tow opening night. We are excited to be hosting the debut U.S. solo show for Perth, Australia based artist Andie Taylor, who will showcase a series of new works in his exhibition ‘Gravity’ coming up this July at Thinkspace Projects. Andie is an Australian oil painter with a BFA in Illustration. His fine art work is structured around a framework of subtle narrative components, connected like the cables on an old synthesiser to the droning undercurrent of philosophical questioning. Themes spanning time, memory, entropy and identity weave and meander together, dividing at times to explore new ground, all exposed through series’ of veiled visual metaphors. Join us on Saturday, July 12 from 6-10PM for the opening celebration alongside new shows from both @crissellem and @benzilla__ @andietlr will be in attendance all the way from Australia, so please come by and give him a warm welcome.
