The swamp called us to her waters.
She received us in full trust and her body spoke in languages that I’m just starting to decipher in my dreams.

🌀Another @ancientfuturecollective Swamp Gathering in the books. This one was different. Soul-level special…and is how we’ll continue in the future.
For the first time, we opened the swamp only to AFC Alumni.
Current and past AFC Online Cohort students and past retreat fam, creating space for a mixture of people already carrying the wavelength of the AFC from different programs to connect in person in the swamp where it began.
Alongside @savejlife , brought down the OGs @morillomusic , @mfinity.official , and @mahzetar to share the experience and vibes…and you already know @spiritflavorbird was on culinary masterpiece duty 🫠
Unlike past AFC retreats, we barely touched Ableton (tbh when we did, it was the least interesting thing we did all week).
Everyone already had a foundation in Ableton from our past programs…allowing us to pour all 5 days into the things that actually feed this work: much more time with nature, connecting with each other, insane food, and deep riddles about what it means to walk the artist path - both as individuals and a collective 🌀🌵
Dropped everyone DEEP into their “why”…to answer the question about what drew them to the creative path, and what they want their art to communicate to the world.
Aaaaand our little science experiment worked. What a time yo.
This is the shape of things going forward: learn the craft first, where we have 12 full weeks of A to Z in Ableton, then come home to the swamp ⚜️🐊
Learning in this longer, more comprehensive way where it can be implemented on a different level, then coming to really tap in with the homies in a more connective and spacious way is the move.
Getting to link with the online cohort fam in person to show them what we’re really doing here was chef’s kiss 🤌🏼

The elders teach that evolution IS the tradition.
With a quick look around the world, many of us know what time it is. Time to weave, to learn from each other on a larger scale, and learn do so with respect and reciprocity. It's nuanced, but inevitable.
It's also inevitable that we're moving forward into an unprecedented tech/AI-driven era.
If we can pull this off the right way at the collective scale, we can allow the wisdom of the past cycles of time to mutate into something that actually helps us wield the power at our fingertips in the present. That's the whole thesis.

We welcome @ancientfuturecollective , a community and creative learning space birthed by @savejlife , into the circle as a co-creator this year.
AFC is a living bridge where the technical meets the spiritual, the practical meets the philosophical, and the ancient meets the emerging.
For five days in Uvita, they will be holding a maloca-style lounge as a dedicated gathering space for curated talks, share circles, indigenous wisdom panels, workshops exploring creativity, consciousness & technology, acoustic sessions, and ceremonial weavings.
A space to slow down. To listen. To remember the power of the circle.
At the heart of their work is deep kinship with indigenous communities whose wisdom traditions guide how they approach creativity, governance, and gathering.

IT’S THAT TIME 🌀🐊 AFC SWAMP GATHERING
The water in the Atchafalaya swamp has no current. It’s still.
The swamp teaches stillness in many ways. The many bodies of moving water that empty into it from all over the country land in the swamp to rest from never-ending movement.
The best ideas show up from stillness, when we’re not trying to force them. Shower-thoughts are a good example.
We spend a lot of time trying to force creativity. Whether it’s music, art, writing…anything.
The swamp has a special way of reminding us of the story that’s trying to be written through us, and repeatedly shows us this story isn’t revealed by pushing, but by getting out of the way.
This Spring’s AFC Swamp Gathering will be different from prior retreats.
Reserved for AFC alumni who built their production foundation in an online cohort or past retreat, this new take will have no (structured) curriculum, making room for even more spaciousness, more jamming, more deep group drop-ins, collaboration, connection, and getting deeply in touch with our “why” for choosing this path.
It’s gonna be the deepest yet, and vibes will be immense.

An entirely new perspective on music and the creative process, how creative habits overflow into all aspects of life, and a lot more.
When I wanted to bring the AFC Swamp Retreat vibes online, I was a little nervous on whether an online experience could be as impactful.
But like I said, 12 full weeks of granular lessons, accountability, and deep creative philosophy provides a much more thorough ability to retain and implement everything along the way.
The AFC app, homework, cheat sheets, production sprints, and community accountability really tie the knot.
Witnessing people finding their creative flow, building friendships that turn into collaborations, and feeling less alone on a path that can be isolating without community and direction is top-tier motivation to continue spreading this wavelength of music, artistry, and vibes.
This is what it’s about 🙏🏼
