ATTAGIRL
Festival of Young Talents 2025, May 17-25, documenta Halle Kassel
The video installation ATTAGIRL deals with the question of how women’s resistance to structural discrimination in patriarchal societies can be made artistically visible.
The film tells the story of four female protagonists who play together in a band. At the centre is the sentence: ‘To be a woman is to perform.’
The production sheds light on the systematic oppression and violence to which women are exposed worldwide and shows how they adapt while fighting the hidden demons of patriarchal society. Through symbolic costumes reminiscent of court jesters, the social disregard for women is thematised. However, the women find their true strength in solidarity and joint resistance against the oppressive system. The film combines horror elements with symbolism.
The project aims to open up a dialogue that places feminist movements and their struggles against patriarchal structures in a broader cultural context.
