El sábado pasado se inauguró mi primera exposición individual. Estoy muy feliz y agradecida con todas las personas que asistieron. Fue una experiencia maravillosa ver cómo desde las 5 pm comenzaron a llegar y cómo la galería se llenó varias veces a lo largo de la noche. ¡Qué noche tan linda! ¡Qué buena vibra! Me encantó compartir con ustedes más de diez piezas de esta serie que he venido desarrollando durante más de dos años, y también platicarles sobre los detalles de mi proceso de creación. Valió cada inversión. Gracias de corazón. • La exposición estará abierta hasta el 7 de septiembre. • Del 24 de agosto al 6 de septiembre es necesario agendar cita con la Galería Proyectos Puente para visitarla. • El 7 de septiembre será el evento de clausura, donde estaré presente para abrazar a quienes no pudieron acompañarme en la inauguración. I am so happy and grateful to everyone who attended. It was truly wonderful to see people arriving from 5 pm and to witness the gallery fill up several times throughout the evening. What a beautiful night! What incredible energy! I loved sharing more than ten pieces from this series I’ve been developing for over two years, and talking with you about the details of my creative process. Every bit of effort was worth it. My first artist book is ready Curator Juci Reis, from the curatorial platform Flotar, invited me to create an experimental artist book to present my work at the @artbookosaka Art Book Fair Osaka, in Japan 🇯🇵. I’m still taking it all in… it means so much to see my work traveling across oceans. More details coming soon. Iaras es mi manera de expresar mi curiosidad por la “madre de las aguas” como presencia múltiple: no una sola figura, sino tres. Tres formas erguidas como cuerpos-roca, tótems o cabello-capa que emergen del borde de la tierra, envueltas por un humo-guía que las conduce hacia el dominio de las aguas. Aquí reflexiono sobre el sincretismo afroindígena brasileño: la Iara amazónica se entrelaza con energías de los orixás femeninos de las aguas, Oxum (aguas dulces, magnetismo, cuidado) e Iemanjá (mareas, matriz, vastedad), en un gesto de antropofagia cultural donde la tradición se reconfigura como potencia actual. Los círculos rojos que se repiten en la serie Bacteria aparecen aquí como lunas de sangre en eclipse, un dispositivo ritual: con ellas, las madres de las aguas gobiernan las mareas y también las fuerzas del relato, entre transformación y regreso como soberanía femenina. Iaras is my way of expressing my curiosity about the “Mother of Waters” as a multiple presence: not a single figure, but three. Three forms standing upright like rock-bodies, totems, or hair-cloaks emerging from the edge of the land, wrapped in a guiding smoke that leads them into the waters’ domain. Here, I reflect on Brazilian Afro-Indigenous syncretism: the Amazonian Iara intertwines with the energies of the female water orixás, Oxum (fresh waters, magnetism, care) and Iemanjá (tides, matrix, vastness), in a gesture of cultural anthropophagy where tradition is reconfigured as a living force. The red circles that recur throughout the Bacteria series appear here as blood moons in eclipse, a ritual device: through them, the Mothers of Waters govern the tides and the forces of the narrative as well, moving between transformation, return as feminine sovereignty.
