Rooms of Her Own: Fragments Of A Dream Seen Through Her Eyes
During the days of lockdowns, Amy Peskett [
@amypeskett ] began taking self-portraits and organizing shoots over FaceTime as a way to pass time in her bedroom. What began as a spontaneous creative outlet eventually became the foundation of a career. Her effort and consistency paid off when her work began gathering attention, leading to collaborations with brands, magazines, and musicians. Her professional portfolio includes clients such as New Balance [
@newbalance ], Puma, Nike, and a Louis Vuitton-focused cover for Numéro Berlin [
@numeroberlin ], all unified by a dreamy, slightly distorted sensibility.
Peskett also brings this visual language into music, where she has developed a growing body of creative direction work. With a strong eye for atmosphere and mood, she has collaborated with artists including Mura Masa [
@the_mura_masa ], Sega Bodega [
@segabodega ], and Erika De Casier [
@erikadecasier ], expanding her aesthetic universe across mediums.
Rooms of Her Own represents a more intimate and personal thread within her practice. Shot during the final days of a four-month journey across Asia, the series reimagines cinematic moments influenced by her favorite directors. The subconscious melancholy of Wong Kar-wai and the quiet interiority of Sofia Coppola come together in a story about two women that feels both constructed and deeply felt. Themes of girlhood, sensuality, and longing merge into a visual dialogue that is nostalgic but never naïve.
As someone of half-Thai heritage, this marked her first creative project in Thailand. The location, introduced by collaborator Nalin [
@nalinchanstudio ], evoked childhood memories and longstanding emotional ties. “I’ve spent so much time in Thai hotel rooms as a kid and adult,” she says. “They’ve always felt romantic to me.”
