Film Update🎥 We’re thrilled to share our new trailer for @amritadocumentary — now featuring never-before-seen footage from our time filming in the Yucatán with the incredible Mayan family behind Jardín Alak. 🌿🐝 We have been deep in editing mode, and are now launching a crowdfunding rally to raise $65K to complete film production by next Spring— in this moment we desperately need our community’s to help raise $8K to get our crew to Crete this August — to document the mythical bee caves of the mediterranean. 🌊 If our story resonates with you, please support us by 1) sharing this post 2) tag a loved one who may be interested in learning about regeneration through beekeeping 3) donate what you can to the campaign, even $1 helps get us closer to Crete next month (link in bio) ✨ We’ve also just added some beautiful new rewards — including a limited-edition propolis-infused incense (crafted with the same blend used by the BeeWisdom Network in Portugal), paired with a small jar of honey from our director Onyx’s bees in Oregon. She never sells her honey, so this is a rare and special offering. Every share and every contribution helps us bring this vision to life.⚡️ Thank you for being on this journey with us. 🐝💛✨🍯 #bees #womenbeekeepers #honeybee #beekeeping #naturalbeekeeping #indigenouswisdom #regeneration

Today’s the day! I’m so excited to announce that our crowdfunding campaign for @amritadocumentary is now LIVE! We are raising the funds needed to complete filming with the @mayanmeliponaproject in the Yucatán THIS November - but we can’t make it there without your support! This is the only documentary film about the bee crisis told through the voices of women, directed by a woman. It’s also the only film which discusses the nuance of conservation and importance of wild bees - I know our community needs a film like this, but I need your support to prove people want to see it! We are also applying to grants for finishing funds, and a successful crowdfund proves there’s a demand for a story like this to be told ❤️ I’ve spent the last two months preparing some really juicy rewards that I know you all will love. Our lowest tier is just 8 bucks and gets you a cute lil bee sticker! Please consider making a contribution at any level, and sharing about the film and our crowdfund with your friends + family! Thank you so much for your support! Sharing our mutual love for the bees has been the deepest gift, and it’s an honor to bring this story forward that so many of us desperately need 🙏✨🐝 With honey in the heart, Onyx #savethebees #amritadocumentary #pdxfilm #environmentalfilm #womenbeekeepers #naturalbeekeeping #conservation #bees #honeybee

@amritadocumentary film update from Hawaii! My heart is humming with gratitude as I prepare to return home to Oregon today after spending the last 3 months boots on the ground in Hawaii, gathering the last pieces of footage we need to wrap this location. When I return I’ll be meeting up with my new editor to begin shaping the story of the film! We’ll be editing a new fundraising piece to help us gather funds to support post production 🙌 So excited to share more with you all soon ❤️ thank you endlessly to everyone who has supported us over the years, this is truly a marathon and we couldn’t have gotten this far without you! Our crowdfunding campaign is still live with lovely rewards available, all funds going towards supporting post production. If you could continue to share we would be so grateful! In reverence to the bees and all they offer us 🙏🐝🍯 xx Onyx

Some golden moments from Portugal - truly the most precious time with @al_ison5564 and the @beewisdomnetwork meeting for the first time in person, I’m so grateful to have documented these moments! It feels wild that I’ve known all of these women since 2019, sowing seeds for @amritadocumentary , and to see us all together weaving in collaboration gives me chills in the best way. Heart so full 🐝❤️❤️❤️ Deep gratitude to all who supported me in being there, especially @theblueprintearth for being my right hand through it all! It was very worth it and I can’t wait to share more as the film unfolds. More updates to come! xx

In just a few days, I will be welcoming Onyx Baird @thebeeoracle and Sam Stetson @she.is.water from Amrita (@amritadocumentary ) to Crete. ❤️‍🔥 This documentary follows women across the world who are merging science and spirituality to protect wild honeybees. My role in the film is to bring the bees’ story here in Crete into form. Weaving a traditional hive, creating honey vessels, and tending the spaces where the film will meet the land. The visuals we will create here will be carried by The Birth of Ariadne, a mythic poem by my dear friend Sylvia Linsteadt @sylviavlinsteadt ~ written especially for the film. 🕯️ We are in the final days of our funding push to bring the Amrita team to Crete and complete this chapter of filming. If the bees have ever touched your heart, please consider contributing. Every offering helps to bring this beautiful and important documentary to life. You will find the link to contribute in my bio. 🍯🐝

Help bring AMRITA film-makers to Crete this summer! AMRITA is a film-in-progress that follows three groups of women across the globe (in Hawaii, Portugal, and the Yucatán) who are merging science and spirituality in their efforts to conserve wild honeybees, directed by bee-tender and conservationist Onyx Baird @thebeeoracle . Threaded through the film is a new poem of mine called “The Birth of Ariadne,” which Onyx commissioned me to write for @amritadocumentary all the way back in 2021! This piece, recently finished, is inspired by my many years loving, studying, and sometimes living on the island of Crete, where I first opened a beehive. Here in this post, I’ve woven together precious photographs from my first seasons living in Crete, overlaid with an audio-glimpse of the very beginning of the mythic poem that will run like underground water alongside central stories of the documentary. This thread conjures matrilineal bee-tending memories from the Neolithic Aegean and Balkans, and is a mythic telling of the birth of both a goddess and a hive of bees, whose queen bee dies and is reborn with every generation. Onyx and her team are in the final funding push to get them and their equipment to Crete in a couple weeks, where they will create the footage that will accompany this piece, with filmography by @she.is.water and artistic direction & honeyed creations on the island by @lindapappa . Onyx’s work with bees is both scientifically grounded and soulfully visionary, and this film gives me hope in this moment of planetary despair. I am honored to offer this poem to the project. Any little bit you can donate means so much to Onyx and her team so that they can complete the next stages of filming and editing and get this movie out into the world!! In celebration of this funding push, Onyx is offering a final limited run of 100 jars of her hand-crushed, ethically harvested honey. Onyx never sells her honey — this is truly a rare and heartfelt offering. Once these are gone, they’re gone for good. So come and get some honey, donate what you can, and let’s get this film born!! 💛 (See 🔗 up there )

✨Deep gratitude to everyone who has supported @amritadocumentary over these past weeks — thanks to you, we are officially over halfway to our $10K goal to continue filming in Crete this August! ✨ Our incense + honey bundles flew off the shelves and completely sold out… but by a stroke of magic, Onyx (our director) uncovered a small stash of surplus jars. So, we’re offering one final limited run of 100 jars of her hand-crushed, ethically harvested honey. Onyx never sells her honey — this is truly a rare and heartfelt offering. Once these are gone, they’re gone for good. Selling out this last batch will take us across the finish line. If you feel called to support, or share this offering with your community, we would be beyond honored. 🌿🍯✨link in bio to purchase! #amritadocumentary #honey #bees #womenbeekeepers #beekeeping #documentary #honeybee #propolis
