The first project photographed for this book started over 5 years ago….AKA, this book baby has been a loooooong time coming. My team and I spent YEARS designing, sourcing, installing, and photographing these homes. I didn’t think I could love my team or my job any more, but making this book has proven me wrong. I am so, so thankful for the time spent on this project, the memories tied to these homes, beautiful photography, and the stellar team that worked tirelessly alongside me to bring it all to life.
Speaking of….I share this honor with a team of absolute superstars – team AID, my beloved shoot team @shadedeggesphotography@kmek27 , and the MOST amazing clients. Summer is sneaking up on us, folks! This time of year always reminds me of vacays with my fam. Basically we embark upon an annual search for a rental that fits all 14 of us and there are most definitely some adults sleeping in bunk beds, HA! Maybe you do know, maybe you don’t, BUT interior designers don’t just pick paint and fabric….we’re also deep in architectural drawings, millwork details, and often select every single finish in a home. One of my favorite tricks for adding light AND architectural interest….TRANSOM WINDOWS!! I’ve been known to love ’em….but what are they and WHY are they my jam, you ask??? Welp, a transom window is basically just a pane of glass installed directly above a door or another window, separated by a horizontal beam (called, you guessed it, a transom!) They add natural light and architectural interest, and in my opinion, really upgrade a boring old opening!! Soooo here are a few I’ve designed over the years, from pantries to entryways. I’m obsessed with all the fixtures (not biased at all…..), but it’s nice to know I’m not the only one, HA! I am sure there are a LOT of folks who would see the “before” bathroom pics and think it was perfect….. but here is the deal, my clients didn’t think it was perfect and so Amber Interiors entered the chat. Luckily we had really good bones to work with over at #clientfromgoodtogreat so we started there. We didn’t need two massive showers, and we didn’t need to take a bath for all the neighbors to see. We tackled the layout and made all the awkward stuff more functional, and of course, super beautiful. How, you ask?? Welp, it included moving the tub to the center of the space with a wall and hiding the shower behind it for a bit more privacy. That gave us the room to make bigger vanities and add more storage!! The whole bathroom now feels really intentional, much more usable, and aesthetically aligned with the client’s vision. Renovations are a special kind of beast, so l love when it all works out seamlessly like this stunner. // 📷 @shadedeggesphotography
It’s kinda impossible to describe the depth of love and purpose this girl has given me, but I somehow cherish her more and more everyday. G baby; thanks for choosing me to be your BooFoo-Foo. And a big Happy Mama’s Day to all the mamas, the grandmamas, the aunts, the sisters, or whoever you recognize as yo mama!
