Aanstaande zaterdag 16 mei organiseert ‘Nationaal Protest’ in meerdere steden demonstraties tegen de opvang van vluchtelingen, ook in Nijmegen. Daar zetten wij een krachtig en positief geluid tegenover. Wij komen massaal samen om te laten zien waar Nijmegen echt voor staat: solidariteit, menselijkheid, verbondenheid en gastvrijheid. Dit doen we door met een brede coalitie van ruim 40 organisaties een Block Party te organiseren! Upcoming Saturday 16 May 'Nationaal Protest' is organizing anti-immigration demonstrations throughout the country, including in Nijmegen. We counter that with a powerful and positive message. We're organizing en masse to show what Nijmegen truly stands for: solidarity, humanity, community and hospitality. Together with more than 40 organizations we're organizing a Block Party! For this edition, we’ve chosen a strictly local line-up. Nijmegen is full of talent, and we believe it’s important to create space for those voices and sounds within our own ecosystem. If you’re curious to discover new artists and fresh directions in club music, this night is for you. We have three amazing local artists lined up for you. In true Amalgamation style, their style is out of the box and the build up eclectic yet complementary. Ozum needs little introduction as she has been a staple in Nijmegen for many years. People know her from her intense and carefully curated techno sets. For us, she will explore other genres without losing her distinct signature. NEK is slowly taking Nijmegen by storm with his uncompromising, eclectic and Bass driven sets full of gritty and unpredictable twists and turns. A perfect set up for the live performance of Xeppo. The sound of this local sound designer, producer and live performer is really hard to pin down, but very distinct. The way we love it. A mash up from all corners of dance music, from psytrance, Perlon-esque minimal to AFX glitch and melodies varying in tempo and intensity. We can’t wait to shake our booty on this wild ride. On closing duties we have Amalgamation initiators Radbabz and Darko Esser who will dive deep into the world of booty house, footwork and much more. Sweat on the walls is a garantuee. Our next club night is quickly approaching and we’re really looking forward to it. We started this year slowly and we plan to keep it that way. At our last hangout we handed out our new Amalgamation tees, and it reminded us why we do these gatherings in the first place. They’re not just meet-ups, they’re shared experiences. Places where people meet new people, creatives find each other, and new links are quietly formed. We wanted to create something that carries that feeling into everyday life. Whether you’re in the grocery store, on a random street corner, or on the dance floor. Three months later, we finally wrote it all down. The highs, the friction, the fashion show, the exhaustion, and the care that followed. Our Halloween edition was more than a club night. It was three events in two days, built together with many people, many perspectives, and a lot of learning along the way. We asked everyone involved to reflect honestly, not just on what worked, but on what challenged us too. This Substack is our way of creating space for context, transparency, and slower storytelling.
