Happy International Mother Language Day! This day serves as a powerful reminder of the 1952 Language Movement in Bangladesh, where students sacrificed their lives for Bengali to be recognized as one of the state languages. As we honor this day, we also remember the deaths of the student protestors in Dhaka during the previous election in August 2024. The event was absolutely vibrant, featuring performances by local Bengali artists, teach-ins on the current situation in Bangladesh, delicious food, chai, and henna. This was an event by the people for the people — a chance for our community to unite.
