Mount Martha Project — Handover
Perched high above the coastline, Bush Block House is a modest renovation of an original Col Bandy–designed home, carefully reworked to sit lightly within its landscape and retain the strength of the original form.
The expansive site has been thoughtfully landscaped by Longview, while the home itself was meticulously restored by Will, Mitch and the team at Wilken Homes. A genuine team effort.
A small gunyah provides a place for the grandchildren to play, embedded gently within the landscape. The new carport extends the existing roof form, deliberately restrained so as not to compete with the original architecture.
The expressed trusses, engineered by @am_a.eng , celebrate light and shade, where structure becomes both form and function.

A coastal home shaped by movement and light. Perched in McRae, this @cheahsaw designed residence features fully operable façade screens that shift on command, enhancing thermal performance and privacy while framing the bay outlooks.

Some in progress photos of a SIPS build we engineered. Great solution for Passive Haus or maxing out your energy rating. In this job the ground floor panels were suspend over timber bearers and screw piles. Whilst the lofted ceiling lines were easily achieved by screwing off panels to timber roof bearers. All panels come pre-fabricated read for the builder to assemble.
Check out this cool hempcrete wall. Looks great rendered to. Great to see a project come to life. It always a bit more interesting trying something new.
Flashback to the award winning Turn House we did with @rebeccanaughtinarchitect a few year ago. Still a favourite.

It started as an idea, then some sketches, then finding the craftsmen who believe in you.
I’m not the first that has done this, and you’d have all seen something similar before. However it certainly was a steep learning curve to put this together.
It took us 11 months to figure all these out, many calculations, prototyping, espresso, and video footages.
