I’m thrilled to share that my feature directorial debut, baby/girls, has been selected to World Premiere at
@sxsw next month.
baby/girls is a raw, verité film about teen motherhood in post-Dobbs Arkansas. We spent two years following three young women whose stories all begin inside a Christian maternity home for pregnant and mothering teens. They allowed us to follow as they navigated pregnancy and early motherhood while still figuring out who they are themselves. It’s a deeply intimate portrait of the lives of American women that we hope cuts through the noise around reproductive politics to show the lived reality of generational poverty, trauma, and incredible resilience.
I am proud to have directed this documentary over the past 2 years in partnership with the mega talent of
@jackie.jesko And I’m forever grateful that she and
@latchkey_films trusted me to tell this story with them. I’m extremely lucky that Melissa Leardi
@melissajemmaa masterfully produced this movie, that
@cassandragiraldo so beautifully filmed it and that Daniela Quiroz
@qid_around was our brilliant editor. Most of all, I’m thankful for the courage of the women in the film.
Thank you to SXSW for bringing our film to the world! Let me know if you’ll be in Austin in March!!
