[Please see other post for the English version].

[Por favor, véase otra publicación para la versión en español] 📣 ATU is very excited to announce Direct Cash for Altadena Fire Recovery, a cash assistance program launched in partnership with the Altadena Community Land Trust, NCJWLA, and many other community partners. The Direct Cash program will provide $36,000 of monthly, unrestricted cash funds directly to selected renter households with dependents for two years ($2000/month for the first six months, $1500/month for a year, and $1000/month for the final six months). In addition to financial assistance, participants will have access to supportive services from our program partners with the goal of strengthening long-term recovery. This is an anti-displacement initiative aimed at helping Altadena renters be able to stay and/or return to Altadena after being displaced or impacted by the fire. This is a limited pilot offering 24 months of direct cash support to 30 eligible Altadena renter/tenant households with dependents. We hope to get more funding to support additional households soon; we know this is a drop in the bucket compared to what is needed. ❤️‍🩹 Please visit our website (link in bio) for more information about eligibility criteria and how to apply.

Altagether stands united against the unjust and cruel actions of ICE and the federal government. The recent ICE operations are a heartbreaking attack on families and communities. Everyone deserves to live without fear and be treated with dignity and respect. Altagether was founded to support all neighbors in our community while we recover and rebuild. Our beautiful community of Altadena is a diverse and welcoming place. Immigrants are an integral part of community, regardless of status. We stand arm in arm with our neighbors, families, and workers when we say ICE OUT OF DENA. If you or someone you know needs support, please contact CHIRLA’s Immigrant Assistance Line, the California Immigrant Policy Center, or explore the National Day Laborer Organizing Network’s (NDLON) Know Your Rights page.

On Thursday, more than 500 Altadena residents and community leaders - together with allies from across the region - sent a letter to state leaders calling on them to allocate $200 million to ensure that Altadena remains an affordable, diverse community in the aftermath of the devastating Eaton Fire. The funding request - championed by @senatorsrp - would support mission-driven nonprofits who are committed to preserving the economic and racial diversity of Altadena to acquire fire-damaged properties, which could then be redeveloped and sold at affordable prices or maintained as community ownership. *** Video descriptions in alt text Read the full report from SAJE via link in bio.
