An Introduction to Pre-Approved Plans ✍️🏡
While pre-approved ADU plans have been around for a while, LA County’s pre-approval program specific to single family homes just launched last month.
Pre-approved plans can provide a faster and more cost effective path to rebuilding, since one design can be used across multiple sites (where lot conditions allow). It’s important to note that once a plan is pre-approved, there can’t be any (code related) modifications without forfeiting preapproved status!

Introducing a four part live rebuilding series: follow the progress of four Foothill Catalog homes/ADUs (the Lexington, Elizabeth, Opa, and Lily) as they are built across two adjacent sites in Altadena. Each monthly session will be focused on different milestones of construction and feature on-site tours + subject matter experts across trades.
Session One - all about the foundations and framing of a home will be held on Saturday, May 30th. The sessions are free and open to all community members navigating the rebuilding process. Registration will be required as space is limited - more information to follow!

Design is at its best when it serves the communities who need it most. What began as a response to the Eaton and Palisades fires has grown into a deeply meaningful pro bono collaboration with @thefoothillcatalog .
Rebuilding a home is not the same as rebuilding a life. Displaced families deserve more than a short term response. They deserve dignity, infrastructure, and a framework for their future. ✨ 3D Visualizations: Fully rendered views so families can see their future before a single wall goes up.
