This year Alpkit became lead sponsors for the Lap and we were lucky enough to get to run the 75km course around Windermere in May. With 2,700 metres of elevation and varied terrain, the course is challenging, but the friendly atmosphere will really lift you up and help you through it! Tour de Alpkit 📍🌍🙌
Our store hero JC from Hathersage is setting off on a two week epic! Starting from Inverness, JC has plotted a route between all 10 Alpkit stores - a route that comes to 2,133km in distance (and 22,000m of elevation 👀)!
He wanted to find a UK adventure that would challenge him, without the expense of bringing a bike abroad, and thought why not ride to each store, meet the other teams, find the best local trails and camp in some new places 🏕️

Well what a start to the 2026 'The Lap' season it has been! The weather didn't disappoint, and neither did the vibes, continuing with the last two runners carrying every emotion that had been left on the trail to guide them all the way to that finish arch!

They started strangers sharing the same love for the great outdoors, and finished, I'm sure friends for life.
.
This is the blessing the trails, and 'The Beautiful Ultra' gifts us, and we wouldn't have it any other way, despite how tough it may be at times, especially going through the night. But is there a better way to finish than with an hour to spare, witnessing the beauty of day break over Windermere!?!?!

One of our favourite tents at Alpkit thanks to its lightweight design and quick set up!
The Tarpstar is a pyramid tent that pitches using trekking poles or the Vertex Tarp Pole. There’s space in the porch for your boots or bag, and it packs up small and light 💫
