Day 1 cycling in Svaneti, Georgia 🇬🇪
As we arrived to Mestia by a marshrutka, we immediately cycled up to the Ughviri Pass and pitched our tents at a small mountain lake. We couldn't miss the sunrise so woke up early again. After a gorgeous morning ride and our breakfast, I packed my @bigagnes_ Fly Creek tent a bit wet, as the morning was a very dewy. We packed the whole Bikepacking setup and left the Ughviri Pass heading Ushguli.

Backpacking gear is expensive and I never want anyone to feel like you need the “perfect” setup to get outside with your kids.
We’ve slowly built this setup over years. Keeping what we had, watching for sales, and upgrading little by little when we could.
Our current family sleep setup:

When I backpack solo with the girls, I only bring one double sleeping bag and one sleeping pad to keep things lighter since the girls can only carry about 5 lbs each in their packs. A big reason we upgraded over time was to make it more manageable (compact & lightweight) for me to carry when Tyson can’t come.
This setup works really well for our family, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right setup for yours. Start with what you have. Upgrade slowly if and when you can.
The memories won’t care what gear you used.
