Last summer we launched our new CI @kunsthallebasel and I couldn’t be prouder of what @porto_rocha created. Still thinking about Thursday night and the opening of Sumber Alam at @kunsthallebasel . There’s a kind of quiet magic in the way Bagus’ work unfolds, plants guiding machines, sound reverberating through materials, questions suspended in space. Nickel, hardwood, water, and electricity move through delicate feedback loops, asking us to reconsider our relationships with both technology and the natural world. I’ve always admired in Bagus’ work his ability to speak through materials, through motion and rhythm, rather than statements. And standing in this exhibition now, I feel a continuation of that impulse, but on a much wider scale. Each work is like the breath of a landscape under strain. Huge thanks to @baguspandega for bringing this powerful work into being, and to everyone who helped shape this exhibition with such care and generosity. I’m honored to host Sumber Alam and to share this moment with all of you. 💚

⛰️ Still not over Kumaon. The views, the silence, the long walks. But mostly, the friends who flew across the world to share it. Even Delhi felt soft after that…

An Act of Repair Hosting, Healing and the Future Concepts of care, repair and hosting have emerged from the margins of institutional curatorial practice to reclaim a fundamental imperative, the ethical responsibility of/for the “other.” In these attempts, the curatorial care is reconfigured as the care for the marginalised subjects, repair moves beyond the physical repair to reflect on the conditions of crisis and hosting becomes an act of inclusiveness. This presentation by Sharmini Pereira, Chief Curator of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka, and Mohamed Almusibli, Director and Chief Curator of Kunsthalle Basel, and moderated discussion led by Premjish Achari, Curator at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Delhi, reflects on the transition of abstract theoretical frameworks into the tangible, often complex, realities of curatorial practice. Together they will think through the negotiations, adaptations and struggles to navigate the constraints and hierarchies of the art world. We invite you to be part of Sharmini Pereira and Mohamed Almusibli’s specific cultural, geographical, and intellectual contexts, to engage in a dialogue to understand the practical resonance of their interventions. Both Sharmini Pereira & Mohamed Almusibli are here on the invitation of Experimenter’s Curators’ Hub @experimenter and we are delighted to have them and Premjish Achari with us for this conversation. The conversation will take place at Method Gallery, New Delhi, on 20 July 2025, starting 5:30 PM. Register at /actofrepair (link also in bio).

Some artists are hard to define. Ser is one of them. Not because her work lacks clarity, on the contrary. But because she constantly resists capture. Just when you think you’ve grasped it, or her, she’s already somewhere else. In the years I’ve known Ser, she’s gone from painting in the basement of our shared house in Geneva to exhibiting in some of the most significant institutions across the world. And yet, it feels especially meaningful to welcome her back in Switzerland, to a place that shaped part of her path, and where many of our own began. It’s a privilege for us at Kunsthalle Basel to accompany this next chapter in her practice, one that continues to experiment, disrupt, and expand what an exhibition can be. So thank you, Ser, for your trust, your brilliance, and for never making things easy. @ser_sera @kunsthallebasel “Of my life” is on view until 21. Sep 2025 📸 @noe.cotter

🤍Thank you Dala for your vision, generosity and for trusting me and the entire team with this beautiful project 🤍 Xíloma. MCCCLXXVI is on view until August 10 at @kunsthallebasel 🤍 #dalanasser Considering materials as witnesses, Dala Nasser has developed a growing body of work that foregrounds non-claimed histories, ecologies of slow violence, colonial theft, and infrastructural failure in times and places where human language has been rendered insufficient or out of reach. For her exhibition at Kunsthalle Basel, Dala envisioned a poetic reconstruction of the Byzantine church of Kabr Hiram in Qana - Lebanon, a site now no longer extant in a landscape that is impassable.
